I really bugs me when Microsoft cant make a great system without buying out companies to do it for them. Anyone else think the same?

Yeah, it really bothers me too, that they can just buy their way into the industry just because they have an almost infinite supply of money.

I disagree.

Microsoft has made a great system. Microsoft just bought a few companies to make games for them, not help actually "make" the system.

Microsoft has a few companies that could make great XBox games too, like Ensemble Studios.

you know, its all about the food chain. Small fish eats plunctons, Medium fish eats small fish and Big fish eats medium fishes :D
Everyone wants to stay at the top.

And Xbox IS a great system so are others. Buying out develpers Will destroy some compitions and will help to sell some more consoles.

and what would you do if you owned Microsoft and you were to take a decission. Be honest.

I wasn't saying that the Xbox is a bad system itself, just that I dislike Microsoft's work ethic, it's cutthroat.

But yeah, that's probably what I'd do too if I was actually losing money by selling consoles too. Try to get some revenue from software, and what better way to do that than to buy well-established developers that would hopefully make some great games, and rake in the money.

Uhhhhhh........... no. A monopoly is when a company has control over an entire market; are you saying XBox has control of the console market? Microsoft would be a monopoly if they purchased Sony's gaming division, Nintendo, and Bandai. That sir, would be a monopoly.

After hearing the news about xbox buying rare I had a great realization which i'm sure many of you realized before, Microsoft could buy anything they want, almost. This scared me so much. So far Microsof has done very little massive buying out of other companies so i underestimated them, now i fear for the life of other second and third party companies. This buying their way into the mainstream gaming world sucks so much... its just so cheap.

Yes they could buy any company in theory but lets just remember they tried to buy Nintendo and they refused. As with Sega and Square or something like that. Anyway, I must sleep.

MS has smart buisness stragies. If u cant join them, buy them. I love MS's market moves. Bill Gates is a master when it comes to buisness, need I prove what he has done with MS, and he makes excelent decesions. I think, MS is a briliant company with a bright future in the gaming industrie. As I have told many ppl about this same subject "This is just a little thing called buisness, maybe u should learn it sometime".

Well, Juan most wont admit it but u know they would do the samething MS is doing. I think everyone needs to look at it from MS's view. What not better way to get into the market than using ur advantage over the compeditors.

Absoulutely..What youre looking at is "whoever has the money, has the game" Scenario. Me or you or anyone on this board may not like it(Which i certainly dont) But This is the rule. However. I have little faith that Microsoft will ever suceed in mass proportions in the Video Game Industry, Therefore it doesnt matter.
