With all of the excitement that E3 2004 brought to the Legend of Zelda series, Gamepsy's Steven Kent recently sat down for an interview with Eiji Aonuma, Manager and former Zelda Director, to discuss the future of the series. However, some unexpected news came out of their discussions that would make any Zelda fan leap for joy. Just read for yourselves:

GameSpy: How many Link games are under way right now?

Aonuma: Three. We have a Game Boy Advance Zelda, a DS Zelda, and this GameCube one.

GameSpy: The DS game has not been announced.

Aonuma: That is correct. It is something for the future.

GameSpy: Does it have a title?

Aonuma: There is no name yet. We don't even have a name for this one (the adult Link) yet.

While it hasn't been officially announced, we at least know it exists and is currently under development. We can only hope it arrives at the DS’s launch as it would make for an incredible launch title.

Expect more news as it breaks!

Well, it's not going to be a launch title, maybe fall next year, or a summer or spring hit to hold people over the dry months, next winter seems most likely. But i wonder how it'll work, all the possibilities (none of which I can think of), oh I want info!

is metroid prime :hunters being released the same day as the DS? if both LOZ and metroid are released together when the ds is released, the ds will have a good chance of selling well.

^ Metroid Prime Hunters will be a launch title. There is nothing really known about the DS Zelda other than it's being developed right now. We dont even know how far in developement it is in. It most likely wont be a luanch title just because we probably would have seen something about at E3 if it was. launch title business was just hopefull thinking (I know because I wrote the article using mikes log in name. hehe)

i thought it was already confirmed a long time ago. And I imagine it will be similar to OoT...same engine, same graphic style... you get the deal.

W0rd. That sounds great. Im willing to bet that the system will also connect in some way to the Next Gamecube Zelda.

I'm guessing it won't be...though Nintendo makes alot of ports, this has been realsed basiclly 3 times....and if they said so, they would have a name, so there's still hope for it not to be a port...
