Okay, I've saved up my money and I decided I'm going to make my car awesome. I was wondering what I should buy first.

Theres my car. I was kinda thinking I should get the rims first.

I voted rims. Ground effects and tinted windows don't really do a whole lot for me.

I say screw them all and work on the interior!

I think I will work on the interior last. Its the outside that needs the work. I will be getting tinted windows I think after the rims. Then maybe by the end of the summer I will try for ground effects. I want ground effects because I want my car to look more like a sports car.

The ground effects would make it look better. About $900 canadian though. A lot of work ahead of me.

Here's my thing though: Why make it look like a sports car when it doesn't have the ability to back it up on the track? Don't read me wrong, I'm not knocking your car. Let me put it this way. I have a Golf. If I take the Golf nameplate off and replace it with a GTI nameplate, the car isn't going to any faster. So why make it look like something it's not?

I wouldn't do anything to it but if you must get new rims first

I said Rims.

So why make it look like something it's not?

Why not?

It has a fair engine. 3.1L V6. I'd say pretty decent. I don't want to buy a vehicle that is fast and all. I want a vehicle that looks good.

Who doesen't want a nice looking car?

^ I agree with you.

Some people just want a nice racer car. Just because your car looks like a racer doesnt mean you have to compete in the Fast and the Furious races and such....so I say there is nothing wrong with souping up a ride just to make it look baddass.

oh yeah, speed stick..you should get em in this order (imo):
1) rims
2) tinted windows
3) ground effects

your car already looks pretty cool since it appears to be lowered and the grill has that sports look to it + spoiler...pretty nice.

Ground effects = ricey shit

Get the widows tinted, nice rims will run you over a grand.

Rims will cost the most, but they look the best

Hey, I'm just giving you my opinion, as you instructed. I didn't say you shouldn't have a nice looking car, and if in your opinion ground effects will make it look good, then go for it! I was specifically addressing your statement, "I want my car to look like a sports car."

Slam that bitch to the ground. Get some lowering springs or if you want to bling out go for the full coilover set.

06-11-2004, 11:02 PM
^Never thought of that. That would be something in the future if I decided that.

Yeah, I am still thinking I should go with the rims first just because those ones suck. Tinted won't cost too much so that may be next.

And the price of my rims are going to be about $170 Canadian installed. Thats not bad.

Rims will cost the most, but they look the best

The rims will be about $100-$150 less then the ground effects. But I think I'm going to stick with my tires.

Rabunis

Hey speed stick where are you getting these ground effects? They should be super cheap. They're just lights under your car. A buddy of mine got them for about 100 bucks and installed them himself. Nice rims are around 1000 bucks if you can get a good deal.

Gilly

Ground Effects are not really expensive, and if you can get rims for $170 Canadian, they must really suck or they each cost that much

The Dude
06-12-2004, 05:42 AM
rims cost 100-150 a wheel You need 4 of them silly and tires that will fit them your stock ones sure as hell wont

speed stick
06-12-2004, 06:33 AM
I meant each rim. Not just one.

Where can get I get those ground effects from? The only site that I found had the right ones where from this site. http://www.razzi.com/vehicles/oldsmobile/index-mainframe.html

I would really like to get them for cheaper. I have been unable to find any around where I live.

The Dude

You know its illegal to drive around with your neon lights? At least in America I dont know about canada.

speed stick
06-13-2004, 02:14 AM
^If I did get them, I would't drive around with them on. I don't know if its illegal or not.

Rabunis
06-14-2004, 06:57 PM
Yeah as long as you don't drive with them on it's perfectly legal.

I hace been looking on ebay everyday. Its not likely the right one will be there. I have searched the internet as well. I was unable to find anymore then 2 different places and they were both the same price.

goku2057

what size rims are you looking for?

speed stick
06-17-2004, 05:15 AM
Just 15". I can't afford to get new tires. I'll show the ones that I may be getting when I find the link.

http://www.concept1.ca/images/Frd%205_small3.gif

These are the ones that I am thinking about getting. I just hope they will work. $170 Canadian.

06-17-2004, 06:32 AM
Dude, if you're getting rims, you need to get at least 17's, unless 18's will fit on the car. Trust me, if you want your ride to look nice, you need big rims. The bigger, the chromer, the better.

speed stick
06-18-2004, 02:51 AM
I was wanting to get bigger rims but the rim would cost about $200 each and then each tire would cost $200 as well. I diden't want to spend $16,000. This will be fine for this car, if I want to get some bigger rims...well, I think about it.

3. tinted windows
2. ground effects
1. rims

goku2057

16K on rims? I count 1600. If you want your car to look nice they are a necessity. No one sees a car on 15's and says "Damn, that is PIMP!"

Rabunis
06-29-2004, 06:48 PM
^It's true. Except when you're rockin 14" steelies on a civic and peeps are just like "dayam yo, did you see that sick ride?"

I just got super nice tires for $62 a wheel at Tirerack.com Just remember if you lower your car, your going to have issues with tire ware and camber problems, and it will need to be fixed

Rabunis
06-29-2004, 09:17 PM
teh coilovers! I'm looking into a 240sx and I was eyeballing some Tein Coilovers. I recommend them to anyone looking to lower your car. Pricey, yes, but the quality is unsurpassed. They even have drift specific coilovers. Drift Spec Winding Master Type HE. I want I want I want

The Dude

Tein..oh baby I love those. Soooooo expensive yet so awesome

I decided not to lower my car because it will cost a lot. As well I had actually found out that the rims on my car are 14'. So it won't look so bad when I get 15' ones but then again if I have to get new tires anyway, I may just get some 16'.

Tommorow I am going in to fountain tire to talk to a mag specialist.

So close I can feel it.:)

id say get some american racing rims...if you do anyting.

But i don't see the point...its not a car that you do things to. Seems like a waste to upgrade on...*just me*

However i do recommend:

1) saving your money
2) open up an IRA
3) just keep puttin money in over the years
4) don't take any out unitll you retire

- you will be very rewarded.

Negative. I can't afford the gas to make a kitten like that purr. Unless I worked hard. But I'm a lazy lazy man.
