Ok, we all know the horror best, especially old school horror. So, do you have any favourite movies? Weather is a guy with a chainsaw in Texas or a silent killer with white mask and a kitchen knife, its all good. I personally love the Evil Dead series, Ash is such a legend. I like most horror movies though, so it just depends on what mood im in. So got any favourites, or any you simply despise (i know what you did last summer, i'm looking at you... :) )
Your thoughts.... :3eye:
Resident Darkness

My favorite, probably would be...arachnaphobia. It's the only movie that had me afraid of something for over a week.

fave horror film... id say polturgiest-sp
worst "horror" film "Darkness Falls" what a gay movie.
blair witch project. scared me silly. screw every one of you desensitized freddy vs jason lovin' pricks that have said "d00d that movie is ghey"
Resident Darkness

Darkness Falls wasn't scary, and it was pretty gay, but I thought it was pretty cool.
If you're gunna talk about a bad horror movie, try Jeepers Creepers 2.

I like Siowlogical (horrible spelling) thrillers that aren't about some big monster thing... kinda like Secret Window... or Gothica

Psycho's a classic, it's nothing to be afraid of (Unlike Goatman) but you've gotta love Hitchcock.
I liked Mothman Prophecies.

Horror Movies suck!
My favorite horror movie has to be A Nightmare on Elm Street. Freddy Kruger is the best.

Do you mean the first one or the series altogether?
In no particular order
Wes Cravens New Nightmare
Jeapers Creapers two
Nightmare on Elm street 3 Dream warriors
Friday the 13th part 6 Jason Lives
Jason goes to hell the Final Friday
Halloween 2
Dawn of the Dead
Day of the Dead
Dawn of the dead (original)
28 Days Later
Sorry Horror Freak, you might have the name, but I've got the honor, I'm the biggest horror movie fan on these boards.

^OMG how dare you!
I meant the first one, not the series altogether. How could you like Jeepers Creepers 2?
That movie sucked huge balls and it had bad CG effects. Jason Goes To Hell was boring and a bad movie for the series in my eyes. C'mon, getting killed with a special dagger releasing the evil that was inside of him? I loved Wes Craven's New Nightmare. Good choice.

I really don't know why everyone else doesn't like Jeapers Creapers 2, I thought it was good.
As for Jason goes to hell, I really liked the fact that they brought in Jasons family to the story, and got rid of that whole shit where 8 kids are killed, two live then they go to the police say it was Jason Vorhees, and they're all like "arghh your crazy, Jason was killed by Corey Feld.... errr Tommy Jarvis years ago." But in this one the police went all out to try and stop him. I will admit though, that having THE REAL Jason in only two scenes pissed me off.

I loved only one thing in Jason Goes To Hell, and that was Freddy's hand coming out from the ground and grabbing Jason's mask. No one really likes Jeepers Creepers 2 was because it was quite boring. The scenery stayed the same throughout the whole film, even though they couldn't quite help that, it was unusually bright out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night. Even though the story for the Jeepers Creepers movies is quite original, they fail to put out a scary movie.
dawn of the dead (original)
day of the dead
texas chainsaw massacre (original)
texas chainsaw massacre 2 (NOT the new one the 2nd one)
Night of the living dead
Childs Play (all of them)
Halloween (not resurrection though)
Friday the 13th (except the second one when Jason had the Burlap sack on his head)
Nightmare on Elm street (the first one)
the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre sucked...

New Nightmare is alright, dont really know why everyone likes that one so much though, i'm mean i know he tried to take the series in a different direction and to his credit, he was largely successful but for me it didn't gel to well. It was a good movie granted, but i still have my reservations.
I love the original Halloween, its trademark horror. It started a wirlwind of copycats that never managed to surpass it(there were some great ones though). John Carpenters the bomb, i know he cops alotta shit nowadays but in his prime he was a genius, i mean The Thing and The Fog are two other great vintage horror gems. Plus The Shape rules. The first sequel was alright, nothing else in the series was that good though, H20 was better then i expected but then Resurrection brought me back down again :).
Has anyone watched this freaky Korean horror movie called "The Audition"? Cause its rules supreme...watch it
HELLRAISER...absolutely definately the scariest movie EVER made.

I dont know about the scariest, meh i mean there's Leatherface, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, chucky to name but a few. But yeah, Pinhead's definately got that scare factor going
Leatherface was scary cos he was big and everything he did happened quite quickly for his size, no mind games like Ghostface (Scream) and it was loud, Michael Myers was the best as he walked slowly but still caught up...

Nightmare on Elm Street series is my favorite. I go by odd numbers that I like best....1, 3, skip 5, 7.
Never been a big fan of F13 or Myers though I did like H20 and Resurrection a little bit.
Freddy Vs Jason had it moments.
Evil Dead stuff is great. Army of Darkness is absolutely brilliant. "Now...I...Swear...the next one of you primates.....", "You're only leading two things right now, Jack and shit.....and Jack left town."
Jeepers Creepers series had its moments
TCM is still freaking scary compared to just about anything.
Never was a Chuky fan until Bride of Chucky. It was hilarious. I found myself rooting for him more than most other villians that you root for.
Hellraiser....not too bad. I really need to watch more of that series.
Poltergeist series was creepy at times. Damn anorexic priest was scary.
Anyone see Phantasm?
Don't forget the king of horror......the Exorcist.
I have Exorcist on VHS and there's a documentary about the making where 7 people dies suspiciously :queer:
Messiah

JESUS CHRIST! How could I forget the thing! That should be at the top of my list! As for your thoughts on Wes Cravens New Nightmare, I think what people like about it, is how Wes Craven bought back the scary Freddy. In Freddies Dead the Final Nightmare, Freddy Kruegar killed a kid using a Nintendo Power glove......... Obviously they needed to bring back the scare factor. And that feeling (I won't spoil it for you guys unless if you want me to, ask me here and I'll pm it to you) when you find out that CERTAIN difference that this movie has in relation to the other series, is priceless.
Viper
06-23-2004, 06:02 PM
New Nightmare is absolutely great in teh way Wes filmed it. Taking real life people and giving the movie a 'real' factor to it. When they went ot New Line Cinema, that was a regualr day going on in there. Sara Rischer was the women who met her, that was actually Bob Shays office and really him discussing the movie with Heather. The whole thing was brilliant.
Someone mentioned Blair Witch earlier. Could be my age but I found not a single thing scary about it. What really messed it up for me was at the beginning they had all these interviews and crap and they showed a police report. At the bottom was a phone number that began 555-.......Instant fake.
yeh i saw a documentary on the actors in it and people kept going up to them asking bout it........r3tards

"Audition" was bloody ruthless I tells ya!! The guy that made that made a movie called "Ichi the Killer" which is supposed to be just...brutal. Not scary, just gory and brutal.
Anyone seen "Dead Alive"? Easily the goriest movie of all time. It's a Peter Jackson movie to boot.
I always thought "Event Horizon" was pretty damn creepy, as was "Hell Raiser." The best ones, though, are the ones about stuff that's more realistic, such as "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." Crazy people with chainsaws are much scarier than a thousand year old demon coming around to feed. That's where "Jeepers Creepers" went wrong, the point when you find out it's just a computer animated winged creature. Boo!!!
Viper
06-23-2004, 06:54 PM
Event Horizon was a good one.
I like to think of Alien and Aliens as horror films because as a kid, they scaed the hell out of me and still do manage to creep me out.

And your Damn right Viper, Thing Thing is a classic, i love it with all my heart :D
tomservo, you mentioned dead alive, is that like a hybrid horror/comedy thing, and also didn't Jackson direct Bad Taste too which seems to be in the same vien

I watched this reallly sh*te horror movie last night called Faust: Love of the Damned. It was really bad, watch the scene where the girl melts and you'll have the same view on the film as me. It was awful :)

Nah, that was his girlfriend who got killed. That was the reason he sold his sole to the devil so he could get revenge on them. She does keep blow torched though. The bit i'm talking about is when the devil makes this girl have an orgasm and he makes her breasts really huge (kinda like boxing bags), so to her crotch (which starts to ooze slime) and ass. She ends up slowly melting in a fit of ectasy. It may sound good but trust me its not, more laughable then anything else :D

Alrighty then... First and foremost, I am a Nightmare on Elm Street fan. The first one and New Nightmare are my favorite. ( named my youngest son Dylan as homage to New nightmare... Heather's son is named Dylan ) Freedy's revenge (NoES 2 ) was the worst. Dream Warriors kicked butt but I hate seeing Nancy die. Dream Master was alright as was Dream child and Freddy's Dead.
As for Halloween series... first one creeped me out and took me forever to watch in it's entirety. I haven't seen 2 though I hear it's good. the third was a waste of time. 4-6 same ol same ol. H20.. interesting.. like the bond and decapitation at the end.. only to find out in Resurrection it wasn't her brother and there... He finally gets her. ( the guy who knew his killer history at the beginning of the movie reminds me of Horrorfreak.. like he could be locked up reciting that stuff like breathing. )
Not a Friday the 13th fan. Like Jason goes to Hell..ending was awesome. and as reference a good question was brought up in a comedy>> National Lampoon's: Senior trip>> Does Jason dream? And if so, Can Freddy invade those dreams??<< Later to find out... Freddy vs. Jason, He does and He can.
Texas Chainsaw was creepy... just plain insanity and creepy.
Phantasm... Those balls look mighty painful.. and are as well. Tall man... very ..hmmm
Chucky is Chucky and that's all that can be said... other than Tiffany being his "bride" and this Halloween, The Seed of Chucky comes to the Big Screen. ( watching it )
Pinhead is a walking pincushion of pain and suffering. the chains...those damn chains..
Stephen king movies... some not so scary.. others had there moments. The Shining and Pet Cemetery. ( that little tike in PS was great.."It's not fair..no fair..no fair" Christine was a nice car.. too obsessive though.
Other John Carpenter movies were ok. ( ie Ghost of Mars, Vampires,...)
The Howling series.. First was classic...in between not so much.. the sixth one ( Rebirth is my favorite. and the seventh one ( the Freaks) was o.k.
I am a Old Time Horror fan though. I like the original Dracula, Wolfman,Frankenstein and stuff. The best for me are The Thing from another planet, T.H.E.M!, King Kong,The Creature from the Black Lagoon and Vincent Price movies.
Event Horizon gave me some shivers... Excellent movie though.
American werewolf in London... nice twist to the werewolf. * listening to Viper howl like the wolf from the movie as he stares at a full moon* Don't recall American werewolf in Paris... Heard it's not so good.
Scream series I enjoyed... First was great.. so obvious but still kept you guessing. Two.. o.k. third... it's still all in the family.
The Evil Dead series... Go sam so!! Army of Darkness was totally awesome... Great lines, great action... and **Groovy!** << This is my BOOMSTICK!!>>
I like Godzilla movies. Godzilla 1985 ( balled my eyes out at the end... and intoduced the cartoon skit "Bambi meets Godzilla" ) and Godzilla vs Mothra being the best.
The Poltergeist series was alright. First was the best. ( Damn right the tv's going outside.
The Exorcist is scary to me and always will be. Horror and religion together in the way it was presented was disturbing even to this day. and to think 'The Beginning' is coming out soon to explain how it all started. Won't have the same affect as the first but could be interesting.
I've had my say... be back later with more probably...

Good post Orchid, man you must have listed every horror movie you've seen.
I watched Friady the 13th about a year ago and i all ever knew about the series was Jason, the hocky mask wearing butcher. *spoilers* When i watched it i was a little dissapointed...i was expecting Jason, not his friggen mum!! :D Anyway, its all good, had nice effects in it. I've watched most of the movies in the series and have come to the conclusion that the third one, or should i say the 3D one, is the sh*test. It was so bad. The only good thing about it is its the first movie Jason doned the mask.
I have the first Howling movie in my ever increasing horror DVD library and i still havent watched it all. I watched the third one, i think its called Marsupials, and that was oddly enticing, so i got the original. Same with Poltergeist, still havent watched but i have it. I'm building the library up with as many movies i can get my hands on, its like an addiction :D
long time dead is about a evil gin spirit that is awoken by a group of teenagers, when they decide to mess around with a weegie board.(weegie board,is that how its spelt)
The demon posses their bodies and drives them to do insane things like kill each other
It is actually a pretty good movie.
