PORT ORANGE, Florida (AP) -- A man hit his girlfriend with a 3-foot alligator and threw beer bottles at her during an argument in the couple's mobile home, authorities said.

David Havenner, 41, was ordered held without bond Saturday on misdemeanor charges of battery and possession of an alligator.

The alligator, which Havenner had been keeping in his bathtub, was turned over to Florida wildlife officials.

Nancy Monico, 39, told investigators that Havenner beat her with his fists, then grabbed the alligator and swung it at her as she tried to escape, sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson said. She said the animal hit her at least once. She also told authorities that Havenner threw empty beer bottles at her, Davidson said.

Havenner's version of the story differed. He told investigators that Monico bit his hand because she was upset that they had run out of alcohol.

Out of all the things, an alligator? Wtf, I wonder how that worked. Did he pick it up by the tail and just swing it around or something? Weird.

Why even keep an alligator in your house? You're just asking for trouble (in this case though, the gator aided and was an accomplice in domestic violence, lol).

Reminds me of that dude who had the full-grown lion in the bathroom of his New York apartment. His ass got bit, too.

Sounds like some stupid weapon they would have on a MUD I used to play called Moongate. They had diapers as armor and pool cues and umbrella as weapons...sheesh. truyth of the matter is this is the Crocodile Hunter chilling in his Florida home and one of his ho's got out of line. He's a pimp that one....

Yes, apart from this guy lives in a trailer. I assume "mobile home" is the politically correct term for trailer.
