View Full Version : Too many usergroups

I don't know who organized this junk piled arrangement of usergroups but it's confusing the hell out of me and the new members.

We have too many usergroups. In every organized community there's 4 main forum catagories: Reg Members, Reg Mods(gets a different font), Super Mods(gets a different font) and Administrators.(gets a different font).

At NintendoNow we have 9 different catagories which include members, sponsors, recruiters, representative, staff, moderators, super moderators, admins and system admin.

This is down right crazy. Are we trying our best to make sure none of the members are left out with color font or something? Seems like we're trying damn hard at it.

Sponsor: Thanks for your contribution to the community. For your case we should have a usergroup dedicated for you, but not font colored to be confused with the forum leaders.

Representative: We like that you represent us members but I see no impact nor noticable good coming out of this whole usergroup. This is one that should be done with, let alone have a font color.

Staff: We love your work on the mainsite. Sadly though if you don't work on the forums your username font shouldn't be confused with the actual forum leaders. You work for the mainsite...not the forum.(also your name is on the mainsite staff so no lost ground there). If you're on the forum leaders list then why not make it fair by having the forum leaders on your mainsite list?

Moderators: Usergroup should stay. Along with the font colors for being forum leaders that members should go to seek help.

Super Moderators: Usergroup should stay. Along with the font colors for being forum leaders that members should go to seek help.

Administrators: Usergroup should stay. Along with the font colors for being forum leaders that members should go to seek help.

System Administrator: Omega's single group. We love all the work you do for this community and we think you're a great guy. Your usergroup however is my problem. By having this usergroup it makes your administrators look like they can't do crap tech wise. Brian and Nathan did the same work as you and never got their one person usergroup. The reason why I backed off was everyone kept telling me "well Brian put him in that usergroup". Wrong. I talked to Brian a couple days ago on the phone and he said "I didn't put him there" Who's confusing who? My solution? Make it fair by grouping all the adminstrators under one usergroup for christ sakes.

Final summery. We should have 3 usergroups with different font color for the Moderators, Super Moderators and Adminstrators. This would make it more organized and members would know more clearly "who is who".

I agree completely. What ever happened to mod, smod and admin. Back in the day when I was supermod, we didn't even get special colors!

True, true...

It does get very confusin sometimes. Honestly, the only two that I ever remember are Admin and Mod. Oh yeah, and Omega, but that is pretty damn easy to remember...

Yeah, staff has thier own sigs now. I was all for color, but now that staff has thier own staff sigs. The font color is no longer nessecary.

does it matter?

that's not a rhetorical question. The answer is no.

Dave you complain about everything... go play some more pranks at RF... we're going to sort out the usergroups soon.

Just kidding. It does get confusing sometimes.

Dave you complain about everything... go play some more pranks at RF... we're going to sort out the usergroups soon. Whatever I do at RF is strictly my business so that comment wasn't needed here.

Complain about everything? This board is called "Suggestions and Feedback". If I can't make suggestions then why did you make this board?

Dave, you're right.

This is a suggestions board.
There are way too many usergroups.
If they don't want to feel left out, they can write something in their sig.

I agree whole-heartedly, I don't believe that so many usergroups are needed, at all. When someone comes online in search of a moderator or admin to help them, they're going to run into 50 other colored names and not know which one to choose.

It's quite annoying to come online and see all of them, it looks cluttered and disorganized. As for staff, a lot of forums do have them listed.. But, it's definitely unneeded, especially since they have it in their sigs.

The sig is optional for staff. Like I said we're going to re-work the groups soon.

You said that about a month ago...

You only need 3 user groups.

Admin
Supermod
Mod

It shouldn't be that hard, but for some people it gets too complicated for them.

But when you think about it, there is a fairly easy way to tell who is who. (http://www.nintendonow.com/forums/showgroups.php?)
Maybe this is just me wanting to keep my username font like this. ::sniffle::

Sure, we could use some re-organization though.

Until now I didn't know what half the usergroups meant, there's so many they seem to lose any purpose. Half the time I don't know if someone's a Mod/Smod or whatever, I can't keep up with all the different groups.

Honestly, who needs to know if someone is a sponsor, representative, or system admin. It's only really needed to indicate who's a mod/smod/admin.

I think that they gave Sponsors colored names as a small token in return for donating money out of their own pocket to help the future of NintendoNow. As for the NintendoNow Member Representative, if anyone needs their name colored, it's him. He was elected by the people to serve them. They need to know who he is instantly so that they can PM him their questions, response, feedback, or input for NintendoNow. He is very important for the community and he's there for the people to go to.

Does Suzuki even do anything?

Skull Kid
07-22-2004, 05:37 AM
He's just a mod with no powers.

Zac

Nothing against Suzuki, but I really don't see the need for a "Member Rep". We have a suggestion forum right here.

Too many colors! It reminds me of the beginning when members got to choose their own colored names. Crazy shit right there, I'll tell ya.

I think a small sig thing like Suzuki's should be made in different colors for each group. The only ones that should have colors are the people with forum powers, IMO.

I don't think it's really a big deal though.

This blows. I'm red now. I liked the green.

Everyone is looking at those who don't want the colors, what about those who do want color variety?

One old time vet starts shit and everyone jumps on his dick.

Like I said previously, we were planning to re-work the usergroups/colors anyway. Its not a big deal.

...Yeah. See, I even made Ixion's sig and avatar to match the green. :cry2:

The sig and avatar still pwn though.

One old time vet starts shit and everyone jumps on his dick. This board is called suggestions and feedback. I suggest you keep your opinions to yourself unless you want members to say that to you when you make a thread on this board. Thank you.

Skull Kid

Look, if you want people to know what you do, then put it in your sig. As Kevin said, who is completely correct, the only people that should have any color at all should be the mods, super mods, and admins.

Haris
