Here's a summary of Activisions recent conference call.
Dead Rush (the GTA-survival horror game) has been cancelled. After feedback from E3 they didn't feel it would be a big enough franchise, the team is now working on other projects.
Expects Doom 3 Xbox to be released by December, although the final decision is up to iD.
Expects to have one DS game by launch, 2 PSP games by launch. Expects PSP to have a better operating model then GBA.
Tony Hawks Underground 2 will be released mid-October
SpiderMan 2 sold 1 million in three weeks (in North America)
Trying to position themselves to take on EA (they refer to EA as "Competitor A")
Sees huge potential in next-gen. Will have a "meaningful launch presence" on all next-generation hardware systems. Also will support the current consoles with large userbase as long as they provide superior financial results.
Game Release Schedule (April 05 - March 06):
- Call of Duty
- Fantastic Four
- IronMan
- Madagascar
- Quake 4
- Shrek
- SpiderMan
- The Movies
- Tony Hawk
- True Crime
- New Neversoft game
The Neversoft game is a brand new unlicensed property. It's not a sports game (different genre) and it is multi-platform. Deep in development of the game. They have big expectations for it and are investing in it "as if it could be the biggest game of next year". [link (http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/040721/law105_1.html)].
