Parents of the 14-year old Stefan Pakeerah, who was killed at the hands of 17-year old Warren Leblanc, are to sue Rockstar Games and Sony, blaming the death of their son on the controversially violent Manhunt.

The Pakeerah family alleges that Leblanc was obsessed with Manhunt, and inspired him to impale Stefan Pakeerah with a claw hammer.

"Children are being trained to kill each other through these games. The tragedy of Stefan is not an isolated incident," said Jack Thompson to the Times, who is representing the Pakeerah family. "The Pakeerahs are a brave family because they are willing to do something about it."

Several retailers pulled Manhunt from the shelves, including Dixons and Woolworth, fearing further backlash for the game.

Rockstar Games issued an official statement last week, denying responsibility and saying that the game shouldn't have been in possession of a juvenile to begin with.

"We would like to extend our sympathies to the Pakeerah family. We reject any suggestion or association between the tragic events and the sale of Manhunt. There is a clear certification structure in place and Manhunt was clearly classified as 18 by the British Board of Film Classification and should not be in the possession of a juvenile."

Yeah the game forced the 17 Year Old , seventeen!, to commit murder, why are people so stupid. Everyone blames everyone else, and games just seems to fit the fancy for now. Why don't they visit Canada, they have all the same violent shows and games, yet the violence there is almost obsolete, you should watch Bowling for Columbine, it's pretty interesting.

rockstar is right why did this kid have a rated M for mature game anyways (actually it says 17+ so hes allowed to have it....) but yea this kid is really weak minded although it may not be his fault. Depending on your mind set games COULD infact influence you to make poor decisions but I still find this no reason to sue the company instead of suing the parents that allowed the gruesome game in the house. People are idiots. If a 17 year old kills a 14 year old, it's his own damn fault. It's not because he played a game. In fact, anyone over the age of 7 should know that it's just a game and you're not supposed to kill people.
Millions of people have played Mario games, but I never heard of anyone trying to jump on peoples heads, eating mushrooms or flowers, taping paper wings to their cap and trying to fly, shooting themselves out of a cannon, etc. Hell, even in SSBM you hit people with a hammer and hit them with bats, but no one seems to blame SSBM
