I'm always thinking, since nowadays people look at graphics, what will happen when the best graphics are achieved? I guess people will really have to make good games. what do you think about the future of videogames?

The best graphics will never be acheived. There is always room for improvment.

i dont think the best graphics could ever be achieved, there are some things that you just cant make perfect. if they somehow were perfect then the develepors would probably be spending too much time on the graphics and not enough on the storyline of the game or something like that:fight:

I'm not worried about when the "best" graphics are achieved. I'm worried about when/if developers run out of ideas for original games.

yea, then the industry would crash like in the 80's becuase the same game would be release again with different names.

but if great graphics are made wouldn't the games take forever to make?

Im not too worried about the industry running out of ideas. Look how long the movie industry has lasted and sometimes even they manage to pull out a new idea.

Well, in the future video games will be played in holo-decks. You know, those things from Star Trek. Yeah, the future is gonna rock.

I think that "holo pads" are a way off in the future. But it is my personal belief that in the next few years there will be some games that require some sort of a projected image, not to unlike a projection TV.
But untill then I'm happy with my current setup.

yeah I'm thinking TV will be used until the technology is so great that TVs can't handle it, then they'll use something else

Yes, and that will be a blessing. They could finally focus on what truly matters again: gameplay.

But here is another tanget.
Lets say that our current tv's become outdated by 3D holo pads, ok? Could we still play our NES's and such on these types of displays? Or would we ever be disconnected from the games of yore once our tv's die? Or is this just something that only I ever thought about. I mean think about it, a world without the likes of Space Invaders, or Metroid, Duck Hunt, Mega Man (when we still cared about the series). What would we do??

Hehe interesting approach :)
I guess there are always ways to improve on grapchics and stuff... some games can have EXCELLENT grapchics and still run at 60fps, other games can have shitty graphics and drop to 20-30 fps on occasion... so there's not only the graphics, there's also the programming and the console compatibility.. and through all the years of computer gaming noone has managed to create the PERFECT game (i.e. with real life-like graphics that runs smoothly on a mediocre computer), although some of them are pretty good... so things improve all the time and the game producers strive to achieve perfection... personally i dont think that perfect "compromise" exists... just look at some of the new computer games, i.e. Battlefield 1942... the gameplay is excellent, the graphics are OK, but damn u need ONE HELL of a computer to make it run properly... proves the graphics engine isn't utilized properly and that there may be some flaws in the programming... and since all progrmming and stuff is done by human hand, perfection can never be achieved... i think!! :)
And console games are maybe even harder to make games for as u have other things to consider as well... and the hardware and CPU itself isnt as powerful as u might originally have anticipated... so its gonna be pretty hard to make it PERFECT...

even if the best graphics are achieved then people woould look at gameplay and the story instead of the graphics in the games.
so there is always a way to improve.i also think that there will be more competition in the near future............ i hope there will be

I think that in a year the focus will be more on gameplay than on graphics. Because the systems will have been out for some time, and we will know what to expect graphic wise, and so pushing gameplay to the front.
