How many of you work on your own car? Can you change your own oil? Or do you go to places like Jiffy Lube. Do you prefer a mechanic to work on your car or would you rather do it yourself?

I hate working on cars, but to save money I try and do as much as I can myself. Little things like installing a turbo, intakes, intercooler pipes, exhausts and other little things that dont require a welder I feel comfortable doing. But I hate getting my hands dirty so I wear gloves, and I usually end up cursing and throwing tools because nothing ever work out the way its supposed to. Stuff like messing with the tranny and taking apart an engine block is too hard for me.

I try to work on my car as much as possible so I can learn as much as I can. I do my own oil changes and brake pad replacements. And the following mods to the civic have been performed by myself (with help from my dad :P)

Intake
Strut Bar
Shift Knob (This was a tough install  )
Front Anti-Sway Bar
Glow Guages
Amp, Sub, Wiring and etc.
Rims (Another tough one)

The only other shit I got put in that I didn't do myself was the exhaust (because I had to cut it to make it fit but I didn't have a welder or anything) and my lowering springs (cause I don't have a spring compressor)

I am starting to work on my old 79 caballero. Just some work on the engine and body. I'm getting a neighbor to help.

i cant change oil cause my truck sits low and the ground effects are low and get in the way. and its a bitch to jack up. so i take it to jiffy lube. but i do work on my truck myself. like painting stuff, system install, electrical. misc shit. i wont work on welding and things like that.

I change my oil and replace my brake pads most of the time, anything else I just take it to a mechanic.
