A poor start by the Americans has levelled the playing field slightly but now they have pulled into the lead and look to resume their usual dominant position. leading in medal count and second in gold medals. 9 golds

The Chinese are currently second in medals with the most golds out of all countries. 10 golds

The Australians are doing very well behind the Americans and Chinese in medal count.

Japan also doing very well with the second highest total of Golds and 5th highest medal count.

Russia 4th in medal count but only 3 golds due to several disappointments in gymnastics.

Korea, France and Germany round out 5th place in medal count and 3 golds each.

Canada is 32nd in medal count with 1 bronze :(

Ohh teh sadness

Poor Canada. The most exiting thing that happened for us was when the fat guy did a belly flop in the pool when the security guards wheren't looking.

USA - 280,000,000 People
AUS - 20,000,000 People

Australia with the USA's population:

280/20 = 14

Gold = 16 * 14 = 224 Gold Medals
Silver = 11 * 14 = 154 Silver Medals
Bronze = 15 * 14 = 210 Bronze Medals

Man I wish we were a bigger country...

yeah but you can really only compare these countries: Japan, Canada, Australia and YEW ES EH because those countries are the most similar.

Back to the olympics play by play. With the final stages of the olympics remaining, the Americans look to dominate the track and field with Ethiopia, Kenya and other african countries picking up the pace in distance running.

Canada has 10 rowers/kayakers in the finals and could look to increase their odds of winning.

Russia and China's medal count will increase only at a trickle due to typically poor showings in Track and Field Events.

Look for australia to pick up various medals here and there. lol

No because they have that many people and still suck.
