There is a thing you hook into the serial port on the bottom of the GC so that it plays GBA games, will nintendo ever come out with one where it plays dvds or music?

You could always import the Panasonic Q.

An add-on device to play CDs or DVDs would fail. How would it connect?

it could connect to the bottom, but I think it would fail.

5' discs do not fit in the top of the GC, you would need a seperate drive. Attatched to the bottom would require a mechanized tray that would drive the cost even further. Low budget DVD drives cost about $40.00 to manufacture. It would retail for nearly $80.00.

I wish my console of choice played DVDs and CDs.

And had a cool remote for those DVDs.

i think add-on devices have always failed so it would be a bad idea for nintendo.

Panasonic Q. The rest of the responses are pretty much extraneous information...

They already have a DVD Gamecube it is very ugly and only allowed in Japan. Just another time where America gets nothiong good at alL!

Yeah just like the others said the Panasonic Q is the way to go.

I doubt they would make a DVD add-on for GameCube seeing as if Nintendo wanted a DVD function on GameCube they would have included it by now, or at least announced it.

Theres been a topic about this before, but: the Panasonic Q is a great answer to a GC with a DVD player though, a great looking console. It's a shame it's only avaliable on import and priced so highly.

Costs a bit, but it's got all the features you want including the ability to play Japanese and American software and region-free DVD capability. $500... but, that's exactly why Nintendo opted to make a game-only system... SO IT WOULDN'T COST YOU AN ASS AND A TIT SO YOU WOULDN'T BITCH ABOUT THE PRICE OF THE SYSTEM!

...some people are just too hard to please though...

I dont think Nintendo will ever creat an add on DVD player... I hope that the next nintendo console has that capability... then people would stop complaining about this issue.

Why buy a DVD when you can buy a Xbox...better yet buy a good pc and you dont even have to buy DVD's;)

I'd rather buy a standalone DVD player, cuz the x-box and ps2 can't play (s)vcd's.

If they did that, it would be a nice feature but still you have to ask the question "Why would you buy a hundred dollar attachment that looks stupid rather than paying 50 dollars to get a decent DvD player?" and plus, most people have a dvd player in their house so it would only be a benifit to a few people

And plus I like the mini-consle rather than the big-ass Xbox. I like having mini CDs too so if they would have a regular DvD plaer attachable to the bottom it would be bigger than the GC and that would look really ugly.

would cost too much

If you want a GCN and a DVD player in one, your only solution is the Panasonic Q (only available in Japan).

JDawg

yeah and i don't wanna import that plus i already gots a dvd player that is meant for dvd's and a system (GC) that plays games!!

Kliq

Yea, importing is a big problem. by the way, I bought my Gamecube to play games, not DVDs.

I think we will have to wait and see in their next gaming console.

i would never use the dvd player anyways...already gots one...plus the dvd player could screw up the system!!

The DVD players in home consoles are bottom of the barrel, low quality POSs.

GC doesn't need DVDs. It has the best games! DVDs are for loser X-bitches.
