^Well they`re on Jap MTV so I pressumed they were in america. Pretty sure they are a Pommy band. If not england then maybe scottish. Really good rock band. If you like rock and stuff you should give em a listen.

They're English, that's all I know. And that one song of their's sounds a lot like an Iggy Pop sog.

I've only heard that one song that goes:

"I say don't you know! You say you don't know" (Real musical talent......)

And I hate it with a passion, all the top 40 music is shit.

^just because a lot of ppl like a song and doesnt mean its bad. like i hate most mainstream but when a good song happens to get on the charts, the band cant help that. and alot of their songs have very good and well thought out lyrics, even take me out, in the first verse.

So if you leave me
You leave me broken
Shattered i lie
I`m just a crosshair
Just a shot away from from
[something very simialr repeated]
I know i won`t be leaving here with you

followed by a very good guitar....section thingy. well at least i liked it.

And dark of the martinee has great lyrics. and darts of pleasure, and jaquline and like all but a few of their songs.

You want good music? Turn off the TV and get some real stuff.

I recommend some Sevendust and Systematic.

Albums:

Sevendust - Animosity

and

Systematic - Pleasure To Burn

Franz Ferdinand is aewsome. Who the fuck cares if they're popular? They can still be good.

Yeah, the one thing I don't like about the whole punk rock ethos (even though this isn't punk, the same principle applies...) is that anything that becomes mainstream is automatically deemed crap. If you like the music, then it's not crap, unless it's Brittney Spears and the like, then it is crap no matter what anyone says. :D

Tell Her Tonight and The Dark of the Matinee are excellent songs.

I like people who come in threads and badmouth a band when a group of people are talking about how much they like them.

That's cool. Those kinds of people who try to instigate arguments on purpose are good, responsible members.

Michael Bluth
09-03-2004, 06:34 PM
Or because the band isn't any good and I'm voicing my opinion as to how I do not like them? My mistake, I must've missed the "positive comments ONLY" part.

Travis
09-03-2004, 09:05 PM
Well then if you're going to give negative comments, you should learn how to recieve negative comments, too.

Every fucking time someone disagrees with you you decide that your judgement is exactly right and noone else can like any music that you don't like, and if they do they are idiots.

Yes, because I said "Omg every1 who lieks FF r t3h morons!1!!!!" Shut the fuck up and stop trying to be such a musical badass, okay? God you've been such a fucking douche lately. But yes, in your case, your musical tastes (and posts that go along with them) do make you an idiot.

You're allowed to say that?

No, you're the one being the douche recently. You used to be pretty cool but you've been mad gay lately. Noone likes it when you post the shit you do, so get out of this "my taste is better than yours" phase and quit being a bitch.

I've fully admitted to being a single-whore. I never said I listen to singles only, and I, in fact, barely listen to the radio anymore. My ITunes playlist has probably 3 artists where there are less than two songs by them.

I'm sorry that I actually have reasons to back-up my opinions instead of your "omg stfu they just do!1!!1!!" comebacks. Let me know when you learn a thing or two about music, m'kay? In the mean time, quit your bitching, douche.

Franz ferdinand sucks ass end of story.

Michael Bluth
09-04-2004, 04:07 PM
Now I wouldn't go as far as saying they suck ass, they're just in that "we're so indie we're popular" genre that seems to be picking up (see: Modest Mouse). I'm not a big fan of British vocals either, which is anothe reason I don't care for them myself (luckily, FFAF sounds American).

Ok, first of all, they're scotish.

Second, everyone has their own personal tastes in music. There is no "correct" kind of music that people are supposed to listen to. So everyone shut the fuck up and keep on the topic of the thread. In case you guys forgot, this thread is about Franz Ferdinand.

I like Franz Ferdinand. They have good guitar work, and appealing lyrics. They also vary from the everyday mainstream rock that is so common these days.

By the way Adam, Bloodhound Gang kicks major ass! (Hooray For Boobies!)

Shane, last time I checked, you weren't the "Almighty King" of music. But when you are, I'll let you control my musical taste. Until then, be a little more considerate of other people's personal interests.

Ass-hole.

They are "British" Scotland is part of Britain you retard.

I will be the king of music untill you get some better taste :D.

"British" is a pretty general term. English and Scotish music can differ quite a bit. Therefore, scotish would be a better description of the band since it further clarifies their origin. Now who's the retard?

Retard.

You wanker, British is Scotish, you would be right if you campared Scotish with English.

so, you're saying that I'm right?

On their CD, they label themselves as "the new scotish gentry".

But comparing them to "British" music is wrong. That's what I am saying.

Gopherchux
09-05-2004, 05:07 AM
what do you mean "comparing" them? You said they were british. They are, but saying that they are scotish is more accurate.

So I'm right, right?

You compared Scotish to British when Scotland is British!!!!!!

Yeah, the one thing I don't like about the whole punk rock ethos (even though this isn't punk, the same principle applies...) is that anything that becomes mainstream is automatically deemed crap.
The Clash were mainstream. And no one hated them for it.

Gopherchux

Damnit Shane, I never "compared" scotish to british, I agreed with you in saying that they are british, then said that scotish would be a more correct term.

C.J.
09-05-2004, 02:59 PM
Think of it this way. Britain is the number 10. All the countries of Britain are between 11-20. Now, that's pretty general and unspecific, so if you say Scotland is number 17, you've gotten to a much more specific part of the whole.

whoa, this thread has been shat to pieces something cronic ^_^.

but yeah, they were so freakin awesome live. they are fairly popular on the rock scene in japan at the moment so they had a huge mosh. theres a great picture of it in some music magazine looking out at the mosh and you would be able to see me but the guitarist is in the road :(

Alright, everyone...stop fighting over a bunch of teeny bop bands okay. This gets out of hand when people take it further than a debate and start throwing insults. It's just a band okay? If you really want to hold a no holds barred debate about some bands, request it for the great debates board.

All this peddly whining makes people angry and gives me a damn head ache. And that's not a good thing. So let's be good members and talk about music in a mature way.

PS. What happened to the days of Mighty, Might Bosstones?

Right the deal with them then...

Franz Ferdinand are Scottish.
I quite like them even though i'm not a overly huge fan of nu/pop/idie stuff but these guys i like.
I'm also not an overly big fan of Brittish vocals but they have pulled a good few things outta there
i.e
1. David Bowie
2. Rolling Stones
3. The Beatles
4. Travis
5. Coldplay

Evn though most band i mentioned there were from the 60s/70s you can't say they dn't have good vocals

All in all i like Franz Ferdinand and don't care what anyone else thinks.
Going to see them in concert in 3 weeks i like themthat much.

Later...
