Does NPD numbers include retailers like Wal-Mart and Toys-R-Us? Nintendo does a lot of sales through those two.

Michael Bluth

Not Wal-Mart, but it's not like Nintendo would make-up more than 5,000 systems a month over the XBox from just them.

The world-wide NPD figures plus Wal-Marts numbers won't show GC passed X-box but it would show it's alot closer than most people know.

Michael Bluth

It wouldn't be "a lot" closer......... just by a couple thousand units - which don't really help considering the XBox's 2,000,000+ lead in NA.

Viper

I read X-box has about a 900,000 lead in NA not 2 mil. I'll look for the article again and check its validity. Perhaps that number difference includes Wal-Marts sales.

Michael Bluth

No, it's 2,000,000 as of last count.

Viper

I read it last week, so it's recent enough to still be accurate. Like I said though, I'll look for the article and check its validity, then post it's numbers.

Not sure about worldwide sales, xbox might have passed cube, not sure. Why don't they count Wal Mart's sales, a lot of people in my town by all their console gaming stuff there.

GCN sells 50 million consoles in Walmart each year. They are in the lead :D

Hopefully Nintendo can close the gap on Microsoft in the next few months and make things interesting.

Interest in the Cube is doing well in Japan and has at least on the top 10 rentals. Where is x-box on those two charts?

Kliq

I don't an XBOX game has ever made it to the Japanese Most Wanted list ... besides Extreme Volelyball, perverts.

^I'll never understand why someone would pay $50.00 to watch digital boobies when Penthouse only cost around $8.00 and is a whole lot better.

Only the Japs are that crazy, only the Japs.

Viper
04-21-2003, 08:06 PM
That only makes it worse since so few have bought one it's almost a 1:1 ratio of DOA:EV and X-box so you can add $200.00 to that price just to see digital boobies.

Xbox isnt ahead 2,000,000. Its like 90,000 or 900,000. Nintendo is killing them in world sales though.
