Is a console that the lid pop up (like on the GC) cooler
or
a console where the cd thingy slides out(like ps2 and Xbox)?

I prefer the thing that slides out but I don't have a problem with Gamecube's pop up lid.

The Xbox has a pop-up thing too, I think.

i like the sliding tray just on the fact that the gamecube "open" button seems as though it could break if you press it too much... also the sliding tray seems a bit more "advanced" i suppose...

pop-up would be cheaper, but sliding could be opened by remote and takes less veritlce space

To me sliding is better, but pop-up works fine.

ACtually the pop lid is more resistant to damage than a disc tray.

Just think about it..They tray has a track and motor to collect damage..And if one goes..YOur games will not load. The pop lid give you the freedom not to wait when to put your disc in or out of the system.

Then agian ,the pop lid gives access to the laser lens, which if touched will ditry..And if scratched..Will leave your system in pain.

Then agian the pop lid is less expensive and eaiser to fix.

Then again the disc tray is more compact.

Then again the Pop lid give you less chance for your game to get jammed in the closing tray or stuck in the system.

Then again the tray has a view of being more " Spiffy ".

Then again the ....Well you get the point..I shall debate myself no more............

Why didn't that sound right?..Oh that is why. MIND OUT OF GUTTER PEOPLE.

As of now i like pop up better because it is instantaneous....but whenever they can make a slide out drive that slides out as fast as a pop up one, then i will choose that one anyday...

although the pop up ones make it feel more like a console and less like a computer IMO.

i don't like the slide in, cause if you don't get it in there perfectly, it fucks up the cd closing on it..........................the pop top gets annoying cause i have my usa gcn on a small shelf

pop up lids are faster... so they're better

Neither...I prefer the disc slot like in most car CD players.

Pop-up is better if you plan on playing your system on the road as it holds the disc more secure........ but when I open my XBox tray a pretty green light comes on

Keep in mind, pop up lids automatically prevent stackablity.

For that reason, I'm going with a tray like PS2 has.

Pop up lids suck. I can't put discs in my GCN without taking it out of the shelf and putting the disc in, then putting it back in the shelf (entertainment center).

I have to drag my GC out...But at least I don't have to worry about it breaking or having power to take a game out.

I think the pop-up lid is better. The disc is snug when you place it in... plus you can spin it around with your finger. And there will be less of a chance with disc read errors. I was watching my friends try to get their PS2 to read a disc but it wouldn't. I have never had a disc read error with my GCN.

Sliding is cooler. ALthough it often complitcates thing and gets stuck more often. It's a case of style over function. On this one I would go with function.

Pop-up. Then you wont have to worry about your gae getting stuck.
