For those of you who have seen the Kameo trailer, what do you think?
Personally I think its the coolest thing I've seen all year.
It looks like your typical Rare stuff too, it looks kinda like Banjo's world... a very good thing I reckon!
I'm amazed how far in the development process this game is! It looks polished.
And have you seen the size of Kameo's t......................... er...................boots??????

Let me just add that Kameo has everything that I like in a game. Fantasy, transformations, plot (so it seems) and a vivid world.
And just look at the scenary! (I'm referring to Kameo's t..... I mean........... the trees and flowers!)

They probably meant that compiling that trailer (after having quickly converted the game to Xbox) took 2 weeks. There's no way that the whole game was created and polished in those 2 weeks.
How brilliant it looks!

In a conference call this morning, Microsoft's Ed Fries and Rare's Chris and Tim Stamper talked about what we can expect from Microsoft's acquisition of Rare. While the $375 million deal is brand new, Fries pointed out that it didn't just come out of nowhere and that he'd been bumping into the Rare crew during the past few years at industry events. The only games the trio would confirm as being in development for the Xbox were Kameo and Perfect Dark. While no date was given for Perfect Dark, Kameo is said to be on track for spring 2003. The Stamper brothers revealed that the footage of Kameo shown in the X02 trailer was from two and a half weeks' worth of work. They also stated that the game was continually evolving during the development process and was now very different from what it used to be. [/b]
As for Perfect Dark, the new character model for Joanna Dark--which can be seen in the trailer that's linked below--is actually the in-game model. Dark's new, more anime-influenced look is what Rare has decided will represent the series moving forward. As for what the series will hold as it continues on the Xbox, the Stampers expressed interest in Xbox Live and what it could offer to the multiplayer components of an upcoming Perfect Dark game.
When asked about developing for the Xbox, the Stampers replied that the Xbox has proven to be the easiest console to develop for by far and that they've been impressed by the development system's capabilities and by the support from Microsoft. They also noted that moving forward, all of Rare's teams would focus on Xbox development. The Stampers said that with all the support from Microsoft it won't take Rare as much time to develop games as it has in the past. Fries noted that a great deal of production had been completed on Kameo before development on the Xbox started, which also may be the case for some of Rare's upcoming titles and may reduce development time considerably.
As far as future projects go, the brothers were asked if Rare would now pursue games that the company would have been unable to make when working with Nintendo. They replied that Rare wouldn't be changing the games it chooses to make.
On the subject of Rare's Game Boy Advance titles such as Diddy Kong Pilot and Coconut Crackers, it appears that the games will be released "in due course." Microsoft is currently exploring how and when to bring the titles to market. Interestingly, it sounded as though Rare would continue to develop games for the Nintendo handheld in the future. When asked whether there was any concern surrounding Rare's profile in Japan now that the company is no longer associated with Nintendo, the Stampers replied that they felt the quality of the company's games would speak for itself.
Finally, when asked to comment on Nintendo's statements on Rare's importance, or lack thereof, to its business, the brothers replied that, "We've had a good 15-year working relationship with Nintendo and are happy to have worked with them." Fries noted that NCL, Nintendo's Japanese parent company, was actually quite supportive during the acquisition. He noted that if NCL had wanted to, it could have caused serious problems in the acquisition process.
I will post the link soon.
