^ That sounds like one hell of a powerful machine. Yee-haw!
- Mario 128 at launch
- Square-Enix in full support
- Metroid, LOZ, Donkey Kong at Launch
Holy shizzle that would be amazing. However, would it be possible to have another LOZ by launch considering that "adult" Link for GCN won't be released until next year? I mean, it would require an all new engine, seeing as its on a new platform.

That is my thinking as well but I see it on every rumor sheet so I had to add it too.

^ Gotcha. That would certainly rock, provided that people didn't get "tired" of Zelda due to the near back-to-back releases. Oh, and provided that neither lacked in quality because of it...

I hope all of those games aren't out at launch, unless they plan on working on tons of games. Otherwise, there'll be just too much dead time with the system.

Sounds good, well of course...mine and vipers rumors together would make alot of since(aim btw)...but I'd have to break it down, I will if yall want.

they should probable release zelda like 6 months to a year later. Releasing all those at once would leave nothing for later.

Hell yeah, man. I'd take a Pilotwings launch game over a Zelda launch game.

Guess we can add this to the list of rumors but Factor 5 has been attached to a Pilotwings launch title for the Revolution for almost a year now.

Any speculation about backwards compatability yet?
Viper
09-28-2004, 04:24 AM
Yes, it is expected to be 100% backwards compatable with the GC.
Here is why I believe it so.
CPU:
GC -IBM
REV -IBM
GPU:
GC - ATi
REV -ATi
Medium:
GC - propiety mini-DVD
REV - HD DVD from NEC that is backwards compatable with all red laser discs (DVD's)
NEC manufactured the GC's graphic chip for ATi and much of the systems memory. NEC and Nintendo have a very solid business relationship.

Thats kind of old news. I found better rumours that were worth posting on sites like IGN which I think they did. If only NNet can work again I would post it.
For a launch game I really want a kickass Zelda game with online modes that use the Hylian world.

look no further than the LOZ game re-unvealed at last E3 for a launch title for the Rev.

Mario 128 ? Wouldn't it be 256, since the bits always double with very generation ?
Shotgun Plasma
09-28-2004, 09:53 AM
yeah i remember nes is 8-bit
next is SNES is 16-bit (that 8+8 is 16)
virtual boy was 32-bit
then come N64, was 32+32 is 64
gamecube is supposed to be 128 because of 64+64
now 128+128 is 256.....

I my lord guys. Bits mean very little anymore. I'll give you the rund down.
NES - 8bit
SNES - 16bit
If it doubled then the N64 should be 32 bit but no, it quadrupled to 64bit
GC - 32/64bit hybrid just like Xbox (PS2 is 128bit)
Revolution - ?
It honestly dpends on so much more than the bit depth to determine a systems power.
In the NES and SNES days, it meant a lot more because at that time bit depth had a major affect on the system.

I thought bits were something for those bitch kids to say when they have nothing else to do but go to your lunch table and say how they have it good in life and you don't.

So the Cube didn't double the bits, and the 64 did quadruple from the SNES, but didn't the 64 double the bits of of the Virtual boy?Didn't that have 32 bits?
Michael

Wait, some of you are missing the point...the only reason why it's Mario 64, is because the system was nintendo 64...like the ds after games, or the advance after games...so the next mario is most likely mario revolution, if they decide that's the final name of the system.

Just forget the whole number of bits thing. It no longer matters when determining a system's power. Hell, almost all computer processors are 32-bit, but are way more powerful than consoles' cpus.
Dorbin
09-28-2004, 09:45 PM
^ Yes, bits are now irrelevant. Focus on speed of the system's processor, number of polygons that can be pushed with EFFECTS ON, etc.

Focus on the controller. So it doesn't suck! AHAHAA~!
Michael
09-29-2004, 12:16 AM
Btw, as your offical Revolution idealist, I would like to state that the Ds will have more then 4 controller ports...and will be able to connect to a computer screen. This feature has lead me and others to believe that the revolution might have a self included lan capabilities...take this as you will, it's speculation...but more then 4 controller ports and connecting to a computer moniter is real.
Here's a rumor to add to that extensive list:
I remember reading in an old Electronic Gaming Monthly (old as in, pre-Gamecube) that Nintendo had said something like "The controller used for the Gamecube, will be the standard Nintendo controller for a long time." Revolution to have the same controller as Gamecube? I hope not, but it seems likely...
... keep in mind that this quote is coming from my memory, not something I copied directly out of a magazine. :uhh:

I like the gamecube controler. Controlers can only advance so far. My only probrably with the current one is I tend to grip it to hard and it cuts the cirulation out of ma hands.
Haha... can't say I've ever had that problem.
... but yeah, the Gamecube does have a good controller, but it still has its flaws. Personally, I've always prefered triggers over shoulder buttons, and the super-anolog-ness of the shoulders is awkward. Also, Z is a little difficult to reach.

I think that's a good idea. That will help for the backwards compatibility.

I think the GCN controller r0xx0rs. I don't mind using it for another generation.

09-29-2004, 04:32 AM
Only things that need change is the Z button should be on the back (as a trigger) and they should add another button on the back (D trigger maybe?) so it feels more balanced. The Z has always felt out of place, but if the controler is, in fact, the same exact one, then thats all well and good to
Serene Samus

I don't mind the placement of the Z button. But it can be in a better place. I guess.

The problem with that is Mario 128 isn't originally for the Nintendo 128 but for GC. The reason for the 128 isn't due to the bit depth of the system its on but because it is the sequal to Mario 64.
(Mario) 64 x (part ) 2 = (Mario) 128.
This could appear on any system Nintendo desires it too, including the DS.
OMG teh new wav3bird!!1

no but seriously, i hope the revolution's controllers are completely wireless and look like this.

the current GCN wavebird is a little too fat and bulky

I think the bottom picture is how the Wavebird was originally going to look... back when it was in development.
Don't know about the first one.

For the controller I like two extra buttons for the thumb, two underneath buttons for your middle fingers, joysticks also as buttons, wireless, tilt sensors, and a start button close to your right thumb just to keep it simple. Developers don't have to use all the buttons. It just gives them more control style options for good feel. Longer handles would be nice too since a long handle can work for any size hand and a short handle won't. I don't want thicker handles because its limited like a short handle. I have tons of ideas but I think these are good enough.

Arent they going to implement some new kind of control scheme? like NOT a controller? ive read weird stuff taht says it could be one of many different things.

let's face it i don't have a life and you guys don't either... i'm sure there is something like a playable beta version of the revolution console somewhere deep in the heart of the nintendo headquarters. I'm going to japan in the spring to break into their main building and steal the macine so that we will all know sooner. I mean i learned a lot of sneaking in MGSTTS. It can't be that hard. Allthough i could really need some assistance. Anyone feel like joining me?
(i'm 100% serious with this)

Nice post and nice sig. You must be amazing. I learn that in order kill trolls you need fire. I got that from a game. You need something to say that will be remembered by all wheni you break in and steal stuff. Something like, "I'm a fan bitch! I want to get revolutionized!" You also need to get a tape recorder so you can hear Shigeru Miyamoto say, "Do you want to go against me and the Revolution?", while he wields the sword and shield and wears a purple rain outfit.
