People, you absolutely HAVE to get this month's issue of PC Gamer magazine. It features a totally exclusive preview of id's mega bombshell announcement of Quake IV. The game will place a heavy emphasis on the single player game, although the same multiplayer action and mayhem will return as well. The game will utilize the completely awesome Doom III engine in huge, massive outdoor environments, clearly showing that id's engine can be used with more than claustraphobic rooms and hallways. The game will be sickeningly violent and disgusting as well, with things like corpses and bodies hung by meathooks in the Strogg facilities, and a giant 5 story heart pumping power for the Strogg's biological facility, blood will be spread from where bodies have been drug, and enemies will more than likely explode after a shotgun blast from 4 feet away.
Simply put, buy this month's PC Gamer, steal this month's PC Gamer, borrow your friend's PC Gamer, just get the freeking magazine, so you may bask in the glory that is Quake IV!!!! I'll try my hardest to get some screens up ASAP, but until then, here's the cover to this month's PC Gamer:

its that time again. the time where every PC gameing magazine goes on about another quake. the fresh ink on the screenshots, the many `maybes` and `probablies` littered ove rthe pages and- wtf am i saying *slaps self*
i wander if the q4 shtogun will have a sniperscope. the q3 shotgun had a laserpointer so why not, haha, that was so funny.

LOL, buckshot from 100 yards? Im not sure how effective that would be, but it'd be hilarious, no matter what the effect.

Im interested to see how Raven will utilize the Doom III engine. One thing is for sure, its already proven that the engine is highly effective both in wide open spaces and claustrophobic areas. I wonder what kinda requirements you'll need to play this

I'm betting this wont be as compatible to the general community as unreal tournament 2004 was/is.

UT 2004 is extremely scaleable. You can play it on damn near any machine, and it still runs great. Quake IV, however, is going to take an extremely powerful computer, and even then it wont be able to run the game at maximum detail. So, no, Id imagine it wont be as accessible as UT 2004

^ That's true about most of id's games though. They do that on purpose. Quake III really helped make PC makers start putting actual video cards in store purchased computers. id has always been about pushing technology.

I'm ready for the next wave of PC games, Just upgraded the CPU, and then the ram, and some cooling for the eventual OC'ing.

I suppose it would probably be able to be put on the next gen consoles, but right now, I think it's only planned for the PC.
