With the playstation 2 coming in the market with very strong consumer interest, many conclude that the success came from the est PSX fanbase, as well as the cool DVD feature integrated in the console-- a first in gaming.

so . . .

The next generation of gaming is coming possibly in 2005 . . so what features integrated in consoles will be the next BIG thing that becomes 'the standard'.

- better quality DVD playback
- TV recorders
- all wireless controllers
- internet gaming
- connectivity to other devices
- strong LAN gaming

- Great graphics
- Great surround sound audio
- Support for HDTVs
- Built-in harddrive
- Online network
- Ability to download game demos from said online network
- Content download
- Wireless controllers
- Backwards compadible
- Wireless LAN

i would like the next gen consoles to have: LAN gaming, wireless controllers standard, harddrive, and free online gaming

Go Wavebirds, and Free Online Gaming...maybe a DVD player and great sound/graphics are always in there. But I agree with barf more than anyone.

Anywhow ...

It'll be exciting to see just how far graphics can be pushed over the years. I think sorround sound will become a default thing for all games. I also think more gadgets will start being used in games such as guns for your FPS games, racing wheels for racers (they are out there, just no common). Onlin gaming will also be huge..

. . but i agree with the online gaming thing -- even though DC started the online thing, the Xbox got the ball rolling, and I believe next gen will be a online blowout!
