Vivendi Universal Games today announced that Irrational Games (Freedom Force, System Shock 2) will create the next PC game in the popular Tribes universe using the latest Unreal technology from Epic Games. The game will be called Tribes Vengeance and will offer a story-driven single player campaign created by Irrational Games and a multiplayer component created by KineticPoet, best known as the creator of the popular TRBIES 2 multiplayer modification, Team Rabbit 2. One of the most important things that Irrational and VU Games want to create in Vengeance is the kind of single-player story that is as entertaining and immersive as watching a blockbuster Hollywood movie. Players will be immersed in a storyline that touches on many levels and is told from different perspectives through the games myriad of lead and minor chracters. Characters will be fully of personality and character thanks to a well written storyline and expression technology that bring each personality to life through facial expressions, movement and interesting dialogue.

Tribes: Vengeance will also build upon the series’ legendary online multiplayer action - Irrational Games has hired leading Tribes community developer, Michael “KineticPoet” Johnston, to head up the design and creation of the game’s multiplayer component. Johnston previously created Team Rabbit 2, a Sierra-commissioned game modification for Tribes 2 that was included in the game’s commercial re-release in late 2002. Further details on both the multiplayer and single player components of the game, along with other important key elements of Vengeance, will be revealed at E3.
