...Damn.
I was launching it around 4k RPM's, and, damn. This is by far the fastest car off the line I've ever driven in.
I can't say fastest car, cause I've ridden in ZO6's and the like, and a Viper for that matter.
The STi would raped those (Stock for Stock) cars off teh line.

Neither will that post.
Lotus' aren't very fast, but they look cool as hell. That's half the battle.

That would be so cool to own an STI, you should meet this one guy I know. He knows every little spec on that car.

As do I. The STi is my favorite car, ever.
I would rather own a STi than any other car, period. Well, at least the STi will be the FIRST I buy, out of many others.
STI's are definetly nice rides but personally all the comfort features that you are missing would not make it ideal for me, i would rather get a VW R32 Golf, imo

Ummmm, the Lotus Elise can go from 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and run 13 second quarters. And this is not fast?

It's fast, nut still WAY under powered.
The STi goes it in 4.6, and the STi is only 30k. I guess I shouldn't have said slow pretel, I should have said under powered.

I consider 14.5 to be quick, any thing under 14.0 is fast. The Lotus Elise is all about being light weight. I think its every 100 lbs you lose 5 hp or something close to that.
The Lotus probaly launches jsut as hard as the STI. Being a mid engine car means the weight transfer gives it tons of traction for being rwd. My brothers MR2 is similar, it can almost launch as hard as my awd Talon even tho he has 75 hp less then me.

The Lotus and the NSX are too examples of damn fast cars that could kill you if you hit a speed bump too fast.
Aren't they made of aluminum foil?

The NSX was the first alluminum car, many super cars are made of that or carbon fiber. Both are less sturdy then normal steel. Those cars are also lighter because it does not have a drive shaft like on a front engine, rear wheel drive car to turn the back wheels. So it saves even more weight, and has less drivetrian loss.
AWD is usually on the heavy side due to the extra weight of having transfercase so the awd system can work. Awd cars also lose more power due to the awd system, then an FR,FF, or MR car

Exactly, which is why the new 911 Carrera S launches as fast as the new Vette yet weighs 200 lbs more and has 50 less hp. You have to love mid-engined cars, they rule :D

I don't beleive that an STi could smoke all stock cars....
