I'm sorry for losing my cool last night. It's not my typical style, and I try to keep emotions that affect my personal life out of these boards. Sometimes, though.. I slip. But I guess I can only say the same things so many times before I yell, haha.
Not funny.
Anyway, Mach, my bad. I still disagree with you on almost everything, but I'm going to avoid going off on you like I have over the last couple days. I just wish it was easier for me to get my point across to some people, especially you. Coupled with the whole split nation thing, and a couple things going on offline, my frustration got the better of me, and I apologize. I try to be a model of how people are supposed to behave, and how we should discuss matters in this particular board, and I would like everyone to know that my tactics were unnecessary, and unacceptable.
What would you guys recommend as a basic set of rules for this board alone? I'm sure my superiors would be very willing to hear suggestions on how we can keep this board more.. in control. I know I would be. Don't be shy now, I won't flame you.
Remember... I'm a good little kid most of the time.

There are things I don't like about Mach either, but I don't dislike him in an entire. He's a great guy when you get to know him. And yes, I do disagree with some things he believes in, but I still don't dislike him.
As for rules, I don't know. I rarely peek my head in this forum, but people do seem to flame a lot. I say we make warning in the forum description, "if you can't handle getting pwned, the go sit in a corner and cry", or something like that.

I don't think this board needs anymore rules.

There's one, and Kliq gave me some ideas..

the rules should be:
only come into this board if you have something intelligent to say.
come into this board knowing that someone will, at all times, disagree 100 percent with you and they will have something to say about it.
keep the pwning others down to a 93 percent pwn, and try to only include a 4 percent flame.

Well, that's understandable and that's also why I hesitate to respond so visciously back when people get angry about certain issues..because you never know what's bothering them in their life. I also understand a lot of liberals are in a very upset mood as of late. It's a feeling of despair and defeat. That's expected when one loses. It'll pass. I'm sure it's nothing 4 years couldn't fix.
There's a lot of times I've seen stuff I strongly disagreed with or was offended by but I usually try to brush aside and assume the best about people.
And also, you know good and well that through just our talking we've agreed on a lot of issues. There's actually many, many more that I can agree with some liberals on. I'm sure Omega might've filled you in on how he makes me look like Sharpton. ;)
If you want to get a better understanding for how I work and where I'm coming from read my posts in the thread "What is a liberal?" in world affairs. That'll explain a lot of your questions.

I've mentioned this idea before and I think it could work: repeat-offenders in World Affairs can lose access to World Affairs.

What's this election everyone keeps talking about?

Nothing that interesting, Pierre. Mach was just very happy that a republican won the village commissioner spot in my town. He'll do a lot for the country.

Damn, I thought you were finally going to admit that you're gay, Bryan. Oh well.
Anyways, being on the same side of the political spectrum as Mach, I usually agree with him. However, I will say that on many issues he just seems downright intolerant toward the other side. I know intolerant liberals/democrats can annoy me, so I can see where they're coming from.
One example that comes to mind is when Dwhitten told Mach that he wasn't Christian (I think?) and Mach responded, "And you're a Republican?" as if you have to be religious to be Republican.

I don't recall ever saying that to Dwhitten but if I did it was most definately a joke.
Read this to get a better understanding for how I think:
Now, it might surprise you aerofan, to know that many people that have met me have actually called me a liberal. I have always stood strong for many issues that a lot of liberals stand for such as gun regulation, welfare, environment, equality of all races, strive for peace and health care for all.
I have many liberal friends who are some of the best people to talk to and they love to hear me preach to them and vice versa. That's why I don't label all liberals as this way or that way because it's such a broad term and relative.
That's why I also never say Conservatives=Always Right and Liberals=Always Wrong. Because people from both sides are going to be wrong from time to time.
See, I think you are thinking of a different kind of right and wrong then what I've been mentioning in the past. There's a "yeah, you're right, I see your point/no I think your wrong about that" kind. I believe that's what you are talking about. And I know that there are people on both sides that are "right" and "wrong" in that sense.
What I've been talking about is what is right and wrong in terms of moral choice (good and evil). Things such as abortion, rape, murder, homosexuality, beastiality, pedophilia, stealing, lying, etc. And that is where I say that I feel the conservative message stands for the right (good) choice as opposed to the wrong (bad) choice.
Just some clarification.
Im not a right wing extremist, because as I've explained in this thread, I have many moderate stances and agree with a lot of Democrats on things.
I'm not a fascist because I can't stand the very essence of what it stand for. I know that there is no superior race.
And I'm certainly one to listen. That's why I have the views I have today, because I listened. I listen to socialists, humanists, atheists, new agers, extremists, fundamentalists, feminists, etc. etc etc. I've asked questions, I've debated many issues mentally to myself for many years going to great lengths to explore all sides to the issue and then come to a conclusion from all of it. That is why I'm very confident on the issues I stand up for, because I've already debated and sometimes even believed at one point the many stances on issues that are thrown at me in debates. I'm always looking for new information and new sides to strengthen my understanding.
How I post or quote on a forum is not a good measurement of what I do or how I listen in real life.
I know some secular people and liberals would be mad at me when I take my very stern stances on some issues. That's expected in life with anything. I'm also aware that on those same statements I make, millions of other people would applaud me for speaking up and standing strong without wavering.
You can be upset at me all you want about where I stand, but to use character assasinations based on firm convictions is not good. I ignore name calling and curse words used towards me and others and reply without repetition of those items. I think that's pretty kind myself for someone to not stoop to low levels and call names and curse back at people who do that to you in a debate.
Once again, I'm very confident and unwavering on many stances because I've been debating those same ideas in my own head for years. I've taken the far left side at times. I've read and studied the different viewpoints on many issues, and I've considered them. And I will continue to study to learn more and have a better understanding of things in this world.
But I will not feel any regret as long as I live for standing strong and defending in what I know is right in my heart regardless of how things may change and sway as the world drifts closer to that final day.

I meant to italicize "seems." I know you're not intolerant, I just think alot of the times you come off looking like that.
