The last few years ATi has been outperforming nVIDIA, and I can't say I see things changing anytime soon - just as AMD has been outdoing Intel.

why have they revealed the details for the next gen consoles so early? They should focus more on the systems that are out now.

It's sad to think that with how long the PS3 and it's components have been under development, the outcome probably won't be as dramatic as Sony wants.

I mean c'mon, nVidia? That alone tells me the PS3 won't be any more powerful than the Xbox2 and the Revolution. What does Sony plan on doing with the PS3, running spreadsheet programs? It seems an awful lot of CPU power is going to go to waste...

Actually the new Nvidia cards are outperforming the ATI cards if you research the new ones... For a while ATI has been supreme performance however in the last year Nvidia has been one upping them.

Perhaps this will give the PS3 a sense of seperation from the other two consoles, whom are both relying on ATI for their next generation graphic engines. Although I'm sure the Revolution and Xbox NEXT will contain enough fundemental differences to allow distinction as well .
