OH FUCK NO
Exactly my sentiment.

Only with exclaimation points...

Both companies are my favorites.....especially Capcom.

EA is seriously going to whore the fuck out of the Mega Man series even worse than Capcom is right now.

I'd be pissed off.

Does no one notice EA investing in all these companies or is it just that it's legal they're buying their way to controlling the market?

Controlling the market is what they're trying to do, but that'd kill the video game industry as a whole.

Monopoly breeds cash, but breeds crappy products...Other companies are forced to bring back their biggest titles, and rush the new ones out of the gate, without any new innovations to the game, or an entirely new game...Because in the game of monopoly, your stance is to compete with the best, if your products suck, then there's no way it'll succeed, because of the monopoly, I mean, a monoply gives the big company more recognition than the small companies - monopolies is more focused on brand recogntion.....Its kinda like WWE buying ECW, and WCW, taking out the competition hurts tham in the short/long run.

Look back in the history of gaming, and see for yourself.

Look at Microsoft, buying out every property or opportunity they could think of.

I told myself if I ever got really rich somehow the first thing I would do is make a video game company. I hope that comes true for the simple fact that this industry needs much more AAA titles that are original and fresh.

Its good to have goals, but keep your expectations low, because in the end, you'll be disappointed. But good luck on your ambitions. :)

Heh well there is that "rich" part I'd have to achieve first.

Carlos

Yeah, that's why I said keep your expectations low....because not everyone gets rich. You have to work hard to achieve it, and put your HEART into it. Its a long journey.

EA is aiming for two companies that are dropping on the food chain. They figure they can turn them around. More power to them.

As for the monopoly, well, that became okay when Reagan and his pals loosened the restrictions in the 1980's. Blame them.

The more companies, the better, it creates competition, and they strive to put out their best work. If everyone is in one big group they can just pump out tons of crappy/medicore titles and would still rule the market.
All this stuff EA is doing better not lead to another Crash.

At least Nintendo won't ever get sold...I hope. 0_0

Not as long as their handheld stock is high, which it is. As a primary console maker, they have to get it right in the next generation or they're out on their ass. They'll have to go 3rd party.

People seem to forget about the GBA when they think of Nintendos success.

Mostly because it isn't regarded as a success. They've run unopposed for 15 years. Its like being the incumbent in a House of Rep. race. Against real competition, Nintendo has wilted.

No one is gonna kick the GBA's ass anytime soon. The psp just isn't affordale for familes. The good thing about the GBA is that familes with 2 or 3 kids, can each afford one for each of them, part of the reason for its huge sales.

I agree completely. Nintendo, thanks in large part to Pokemon, can continue their dominance, but they will have to improve their game quality to sell some of the more skeptical gamers. A rerelease of Mario 64 might not cut it for a lot of people. Bring on some of the more original titles.

Well Nintendo games usually are quality, there's just not enough of them.

How so? It wouldn't be great for them, but we'd still get support. Remember, EA has shown some of the strongest 3rd party support for Gamecube this generation.

Pro A, Nintendo would not have to go 3rd party. They're a very conservative company that enjoys storing up their treasury. Lessons from Sega are good enough to show Nintendo that 3rd party would not bring them more money and success...Sega is losing so much money and they've gone down in quality and prestige since going 3rd party.

Granted, but if they keep sitting in third place and watching their fan base dwindle because they refuse to play to the market, they're going to find themselves looking down that road. I hope it doesn't happen, but with Microsoft and Sony making remarkable advances not only technologically but marketing-wise, what choice do they have? It's no fun being the cult system, especially in a cutthroat market.

Namco and Capcom are great companies, and EA has sucked for a while. So this definately isn't a good thing.

if EA bought namco or Capcom the gaming industry would be ruined! What would become of such classics such as Ridge Racer or Resident Evil? EA are becoming greedy like Microsoft.

Simple EA would main-stream any property to make more money. PS2 is where the money market is at. EA and many other co's aren't to good at porting. see where im going? Sure i could be 100% wrong (hopefully i am) but thats just me.

Ea is trying to standardize everything...I mean I've seen this new gaming engine in every one of there games, except rouge agent. Ea would kill originality as a whole from these game designer...i really think Ea is gonna go for Silicon Knights, very soon, and if they get any one of those..a horrible, horrible day indeed.
