According to an article over at VE3D, Sony Computer Entertainment have announced that an add-on will be made available to the North American PSP which will allow the unit to stream television and even possibly movies from online servers. The add-on is expected to launch “sometime” this year, along with some sort of low priced monthly subscription package.

Sony have not yet announced anything further in regards to the add-on.

I hate 99.9% of TV. That should sum up my expectations.

Trying to lead an industry is admirable and respectable, I'll give Sony that but they seem to be trying to move way too fast here. I don't think we are ready for all this convergence yet. Just 'too' much and you know what I've already told you about too much.

Why watch your 27 inch TV when you can watch your 6(?) inch PSP?

It is a neat idea if you can stream movies from any wireless connection. I could watch TV on campus while I am waiting between classes.

Sony wants to control more marketshare.

Therefore by using their well known Playstation name, they can hopefully take some of the marketshare of Nintendo's handheld, Apple's IPOD, and the remaining slices of the TV and DVD portables that are have not been aquired by their own Discman and TV players.

High hopes are upon the PSP. If they can conquer at least one of their objectives, they will be sitting pretty.

It's impossible to take control of 4 markets with one device.

This is increadibly stupid an sony's part.

Watching tv on the psp would be good on the move. I'm interested to see how this turns out against the ds's tv tuner.

Dude. How the hell is that trying to take over 4 markets at once. They basically made that market.
