Microsoft releases details on the multiplayer modes in the PC version of Halo.

Just in time for E3, Microsoft has launched a Web site for the PC version of Halo that includes new information on the new multiplayer features and some new screenshots. Halo PC will make its public debut at this week's Electronic Entertainment Expo.

While the developer of the PC version, Gearbox Software, has aimed to convert the single-player experience as faithfully as possible, it has created a bunch of new multiplayer content that will be exclusive to the PC game. Halo's online multiplayer will allow up to 16 players to compete against each other on a total of 15 maps, six of which are brand new. The new maps will feature some dramatic landscapes, from massive canyons to eerie swamps. Gearbox Software has also created some new weapons and vehicles not present in the original game. The multiplayer options have been further extended with new team and free-for-all game modes.

The PC version will feature all the intense action that helped establish Halo as the best-selling game available for the Xbox and will have the features PC gamers would expect. The visuals can now be displayed at the highest PC resolutions, up to 1600x1200, and the high-fidelity audio will be available in Dolby 5.1.

Halo is due out for the PC this summer. We'll have more on the game soon.
