He should go in with the team that he is most identifiable with. What team comes to mind when you hear the name Roger Clemens? Honestly, I think of the Yankees. His Red Sock identity has wore off, as has Mike Piazza's Dodger identity.

He should go in as a Red Sox...

...He had three 20-win seasons, had 10-loss seasons only six times in 13 years with Boston, had an ERA under 3 six times, had a career-high 8 shutouts and 18 complete games.

He never had these seasons with the Yankees or Blue Jays. His best years were with Boston.

But he won a series with the Yanks, which for some reason has a big importance with the HOF people. I think he'll go in with a blank cap.

He didn't do shit in the World Series!

who cares about the series?

when it has to do with the HOF?

Ted got in, he only went to one

His best years were in New York with the Yankees. As a Red Sock (lol), he was basically an uncommon player. When he joined the Jays, he was just becoming the dominating pitcher he is today. But his Yankee days were his finest. He will go in as a Yankee, anyways.

Uhm... Phil Rizzuto got in. His stats are no where NEAR HOF material. It's because he played in all those World Series. Having a few rings always helps someone's case.

He should prolly go as a Yankee, those were his real glory days. Who counted out the possibility of an Astros cap? ;)

If he keeps pitching like he has this year, we may have to start considering that. :p

No offense but that is just wrong. His best, and most, years were with the Sox. His years with the Yanks were actually very average. His Yankee days were far from his finest.

Actually, Roger Clemens' best years were north of the border. Even though his tenure with the Blue Jays was short, he really excelled there. His personal record from strikeouts in a season was in the Jays' hat, he had 2 of his best 3 years (win wise) in a Jays' hat and put up a sub-2.70 ERA both seasons he was there (he only put up a sub-2.70 ERA four times in his long career). But as we all know, there is no chance the Rocket will go in as Blue Jay.

=Struck out 21 Seattle Mariners in the late 1980s for the first time of his career.

*-per season

Advantage: Red Sox (7-2)--The only things that the Yankee version of Clemens beats the Red Sox version of Clemens is the wins and losses. Roger clearly had better years with Boston. If you don't believe me, check the web address I posted. Compare them yourself.

BTW, the only reason why Roger is doing so well with Houston is because the lineups are easier in the NL compared to the AL. Baseball Tonight said it themselves.

Didnt Rocket say he wouldnt want to be in the Hall unless he had a Yankee cap? Im pretty sure thats what he'll go in as, especially since he won his only World Series with them.

Yes, but then he told the Yanks he was retiring, and had a farewell tour, then went to Houston.

whenever i think of the Rocket, i think of Boston, and there might be some discussion now on whether or not he really wants to go in as one or the other, he said he wanted to go in as a Yankee BEFORE he signed with the Astros

George would probably pay him to go in as a Yankee.

When George traded for him, he probably wrote in a stipulation that Clemens had to wear a Yanks cap.

Clemens still says he wants to go in as a Yankee.

The Red Sox have spent the last ten or nearly ten years booing Clemens as much as they can. Spitting on him, calling him names and defaming him as much as possible. You don't deserve to have him wear a Red Sox cap.

let me see, the last time he pitched in Boston, well, i don't think a fan in the park did those kind of thing, and i see Roger playing in Boston for one last hurrah, with the 'Stros in the series

My verdict:

Sure, in Boston, he had his best years there - he grew up into what he is and was these past few years there. He will go in as a Yankee. He has to. As much as I despise the Yankees, I want him to. Sure, when I think of Clemmens, I imagine that Yankee hat rested on his head, but I will bet you massive amounts of money that he will not think of how people think of him as part of his decision. He will automatically pick New York... let me tell you why:

He's aware of the rivalry between Boston and New York. In fact, him and The Babe, besides that fact that the two teams are battling in the same division, made that rivalry. You know that Pedro Martinez knows about this rivalry. Everyone does. Roger's decision will be what he thinks of himself. When he thinks of himself, or when he dreams about winning the World Series in a perfect game in game 7, he dreams of himself in pinstripes. Bottom line, he daydreams of his days in New York, and if he had to choose between the two teams that make up the biggest rivalry in the history of sports, to him it's a no-brainer.
