How can you hate the Lakers? this is an organization that has proven they can win time and time again. yes,i agree that there is some thrill in new teams emerging, but with the Lakers,New York Yankees,Duke, you can always count on them doing well in the season and post season. those of you who express HATE towards the Lakers, are ones who are fans for teams who SUCK or you are fans for teams in which cannot make it through the playoffs cause of losing to the Lakers. So dont HATE on a team that looks to do anything to win.

Wait, weren't you the one that was hating on Steinbrenner in another thread, saying they want to get in the playoffs without earning it, and that they needed Selig to help them?

dude yeah, but one thing theNBA offers but the MLB is to STUPID not to is,SALARY CAP. NBA TEAMS HAVE TO ABIDE BY SO MUCH MONEY A YEAR. WHERE AS THE MLB AS WELL AS THE NHL LET TEAMS LIKE THE YANKEES & THE NEW YORK RANGERS FILL THEIR ROSTERS WITH MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR PLAYERS.

THAT IS WHY BASEBALL AND HOCKEY IS "WHACK"
BASEBALL "USED" TO BE AMERICAS PAST TIME. NOW THE LEAGUE IS FULL OF IDIOTS WHO JUST PLAY FOR THE MONEY. IE: BARRY BONDS,TORII HUNTER,C.C. SABATHIA,BARTOLO COLON,AND MANY MANY MORE.

Every sport has players that play just for the money. That's a problem everywhere, not just in baseball. So that's not the problem for football becoming America's pasttime instead of baseball.

Just wondering, why'd you single out Bonds, Hunter, Sabathia, and Colon as being guys that play only for the money, if I may ask?

Magus Relmyn
09-17-2004, 11:26 PM
Does Sabathia even make enough money to considered "greedy"?

Here's something else to consider:

Some players are looked very highely upon by certain teams, and when they have a chance to land that player in free agency or whatnot, they will usually throw the cash at them to land them. I mean, if you accept it, but you didn't even ask for that kind of money, does that make you greedy? Just my $0.02.

Just wondering why he singled those guys out, because they seem like curious names to throw out for people supposedly playing only for money. I mean, Sabathia only makes $2,700,000 a year, not really all that much for a very good young pitcher. don't have a problem otherwise. However if I do find something wrong, I'll post about it regardless of who it is.

They are the ones i hate the most.
I Coach Baseball and Basketball, the one thing i always impress on for the kids is to dress professional. C.C. Sabathia and Torii Hunter "cock" their hats while playing baseball. last time i checked, this is gangster baseball.
Barry Bonds wears earings while playing baseball. that is totally unprofessional. and bartolo colon, he is just a sad case for wanting money and not worrying about championships.

So because you hate them, they play for the money? Pardon me, I don't understand the loogic there. Because Hunter or Sabathia cock their hats a little, which I guess you know must not be for their comfort (different people prefer to wear their hats different way), instead it is because they play gangster baseball and only care about the money. I don't see the correlation there either. Bonds wears earrings while playing, so what? That's really not unprofessional, and doesn't mean he's playing for the money. You're the first person I've ever seen bring up his earrings. And Colon, why is he a sad case for wantng money and not worrying about championships?

I know I get on your case a lot, but I don't understand your logic here at all. On any level.

Dude, you dont have any idea of what you are saying. out of all the people who play for money they stick out the most because i have old standard views of baseball. do you think mickey mantle wore an earring while playing for the yankees? do you think Hank Aaron "cocked" his hat while playing? no to both of these ?'s. they had good taste where as the players i named ar basically "GHETTO TRASH". so leave me the hell alone and quit singling me out. you started this crap and like everything i do i am ending it.

I am trying not to single you out but you make it difficult. Because people have different fashions than baseball players 30-40 years ago does not make them "ghetto trash" or have no class. Heck, Hank Aaron never wore long socks when he played, but Mark Prior does! Prior does not respect the game, and is ghetto trash! Again, I fail to see any logic or sense in what you're saying.

P.S. I can see when you post, you don't need to PM saying "i replied to your dumb comments."

But true, unfortunately.

Dude just let it go. shit is there nothing to do in your north dakota town but to go on this website and try and act like a "know it all" ? i mean when i say ghetto trash normally ghetto means people wearing their pants down to their ankles, cocking there hats, wearing those huge earrings like barry bonds does and c.c. sebathia does. wearing high socks,is that the best example you can make? i mean i am sure someone back than wore them that way. but i can bet my money that men back then did not wear earrings and did not cock their hats.

oh and another meaning for ghetto is, not caring about the establishment in higher authority or trying to be anti-authority.

and before you try and prove me wrong again about the word "ghetto",

yes i know that the true historical definition or context of "ghetto",has been the rougher part of town or the town where jewish people lived during the world war 2.

just a lil information: "no one likes a know it all", and it is a huge turn-off for women and men of the opposite sex. so i am sure you have no problem living a single life

Say what you want buddy, but at least I'm not the one resorting to personal insults here.

EDIT: I only make the long socks comment because it was as relevant to a player playing for the money as if someone wears earrings or cocks their hat. They both make no sense.

Oh, and I know what ghetto means. I just don't know what it has to do with this thread?

i prefer hispanic women so no i am not racist. it is just that the majority of baseball and basketball is black or hispanic. they stick out more than the white guys do. do you hear or see jason giambi, paul konerko, mark buerhle, eric chavez or mike piazza acting like the idiots i named. no.
the yankees have one thing the lakers dont. they have an obnoxious owner. plus mlb doesnt have a salary cap like the nba does. so the lakers are only allowed to pursue so much talent where as the mlb owners can buy a dream team if they wanted to.

i make enough money to fit my needs so i dont give a **** about how much money they make.

oh and i dont give a **** if you care about what i coach. i never asked you if you care and frankly i wont lose any sleep if you care or dont like me. i have enough people who like me in my life. having you and twins15 not like me is not that big of a deal. as far as i am concerned you 2 guys can go to ****

But the thing is these guys are not acting like idiots. If wearing an earring or having your hat sideways is acting like an idiot, that's darn near half the male population. Guys have different fashions, doesn't make them idiots.

And Mantony, why the need to make this personal with the insults?

Quote of the ****ing century.

Mantony, you may have old style views and I respect that, but you are coming across as kinda racist, whether you intend it or not. The fact is that I have no problem with Bonds wearing a christian cross earing, or with the changing style of the game. I would advise against passing judgement you will never get to know. I would also try reading this article: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1873839

Might give you insight on where I am coming from. Before you pass judgement on me.

well to respond,i wear earrings. but when i "WORK" i take them off as courtesy to people who might take offense to them. it is also a "dress code" policy not to wear them. so i don't give a **** if they wear them outside of "WORK" but when they are working, they need to be professional of the field. and wearing earrings and cocking their hats sideways on the field is unprofessional because i dont know many "professional jobs"who will allow their employees to wear them that way. (McDonalds and burger king dont count as professional jobs). and kids idolize these players. so when a kid walks out in the streets with his hat cocked like c.c. sabathia does and gets shot because he lives in a gang influenced city, people are going to be saying on the news, " how come the mlb doesnt crack down on these players acting like this or wearing their "uniform" that way, "our kids look up to these players and do what they do and they get shot because they are trying to be like c.c. sabathia". so when this happens all i will be saying is "i told you so and no apologies needed cause i will tell you to shut the **** up. i am not someone you apologize to.

"and if this makes me sound racist, than i guess i am"
but it is funny, white people cant say boo about blacks or hispanics without being labeled "racist". but when jesses jackson jr. or when jadakiss sings "why" (which is basically ripping white guys for influencing the media and the world) they are left alone. that is a double standard. so you know what, yeah i am a racist. but so is most of the poplulation who has "one" bad thought about the opposite race.

twins15
09-23-2004, 05:14 AM
But I don't see how you can blame the players for follwing the "dress code" of the MLB. If the MLB doesn't want them to wear earrings, then they should make that a rule, until then, you can't bash the players for doing something well within the rules.

Mantony2002

now i agree with you there, even though i believe they shouldnt do it.there isnt anything in the rules stating you cant wear earrings. but the real issue at hand for me is the cocking of the hats. i mean it might be comfortable, but it is ghetto to do that. because no joe schmoe in a business suit,or no construction worker cocks their hat. maybe backwards but when you start cocking it to a certain side, that is when it has gone too far.because historically hats are one of the biggest signs of how gangs differentiate each other. so when a kid does what a mlb player does and gets shot for it, now the parents get mad for the league not doing something about it. when really it should never get to the point of that. the players should remember that kids idolize them and will do what they are doing and since these players arent dumb, they should know that what they are doing on the field might be ok but when you enter the streets, gangs might not think about baseball and think about you being in the opposing gang which usually concludes in someone getting hurt or killed.

so if you really think that cocking hats is harmless than you are being naive. because it is a huge issue in urban cities.
