The first ever Mariner to hit a homer in their first major league at bat is Greg Dobbs, the 3rd baseman recently called up from AAA Tacoma, along with OF Jeremy Reed.

Dobbs belted a 3-2 fastball left high in the zone over the right field wall off of Clevelan reliever Bob Wickman.

Batting directly after Dobbs was Reed, who was acquired in the Freddy Garcia trade earlier between the Mariners and the White Sox. Reed went after the first pitch, and grounded out to SS.

Congrats Greg Dobbs! *banana*

Uh... no, he has a name... it's Greg.

He started the season in AA, go figure.

I said his name.

George Sherrill and Bobby Madritsch are both former Goldeyes, so I know them. 8-)

Miguel Olivo is the worst fielder I have ever seen. And that includes Edgar Martinez, if he were to play first base...

Quick Fact: Bobby Madtrisch grew up in Oak Lawn, which is about 25 mins from me.

Bravest - How can you say that Olivo is one of the worst fielders? I had the chance to see him field and if anything he needs to improve on, its his hitting. Since he is in Seattle now, you will soon notice his cannon arm.

Personally, I like Olivo, it's just Bravest here is so used to Dan Wilson-type fielding.

GO SEATTLE RAINIERS!!!!!!

No, I know he has that cannon of an arm. His bat will come through time... I'm not clownin on him, here's my position on Olivo:

Yes, I am used to Wilson's fielding - on a few passed balls Olivo lets through, I would be like, "Dan Wilson woulda had that." :P

I know what you mean. Every time Kotsay makes any type of catch I just say to myself, "Byrnes wouldn't have had that." I'm probably right most of the time.

Well when you put the worst it tends to send the wrong message. :P
