Welcome to Miami, Mr. O'Neal! :)
The Heat are going to be awesome this year, I see a championship coming to Miami in the near future!

I like the Heat, but I don't see a championship in Miami yet.

Not to open up a can of worms, but I actually though Miami got kinda ripped off in the deal. :)

So I'm not the only one! They basically gave up their entire future for a declining old guy. *banana*
Shaq's still Shaq, but Butler had TONS of potential.

True, but Shaq should be a big force for years to come. He said he plans to play for at least 5 more years.

He also hasn't come to camp in shape for years. I think 5 years may be his intention, my guess would be closer to 3. Anyway, he should certainly help the team short term (as in this year and maybe next year), but after that I think I'd rather have what the Heat gave up.

Sounds like you've been talking to Kobe Bryant. :)

i agree to that statement for the year they lost to the spurs. but Shaq did come into training camp last year in shape. in case you havent been watching espn and keeping up on your nba news, Shaq has been doing nothing but working out and losing weight. at the end of last season he tipped the scale at 372 pounds. as of last week he is weighing 338lb. he has turned alot of that fat into muscle. so no i dont agree with that "GENERAL" statement.

Yes it is true he has worked out a bunch this offseason. My only question is what's going to happen next offseason, and the offseason after that? I just don't think he's going to have the motivation to keep in shape when there will be less to prove.

May I have a say in this? ;)
I don't believe that Shaq's laid back attitude in public holds true to what he does behind the scenes. I'm sure this guy has the motivation to stay on top for a long time, and he won't stop playing basketball because he's too lazy.

well until they get a 2nd threat he will have to keep up with his health. cause they dont have a 2nd threat yet. dwyane wade is coming, but he isnt there yet,and eddie jones is getting old now so i dont think he can do what he once did 3 or 4 years ago. i agree with one of the other members who said that the lakers got more in return than the heat. (talent wise) but the west coast is full of centers,so LA will hurt this year. and i am a Lakers fan

Yes you may. :)
Well, we'll see. I love Shaq because he's hilarious, but he does not seem to be the hardest worker. Again, if I remember right, he's not always in the best shape to start the year and has to work himself back into shape during the year. We shall certainly see.

I wish Jordan would come to the Heat, but thats ok if he doesn't.
Shaq is getting into pretty good shape, believe me he will be good.
Wade is going to be awesome too.
I wouldn't really care if the Heat didn't do the trade and kept the young talent, but I also don't think they are stupid for doing it either.
If anything else, it will get the fans into them more which could end up resulting in more wins if they stay in it. Who knows, we will see how it works out.
