You think the Mets can take out the Braves? And you think the Braves have old guys? Look at the Mets! They have Tom Glavine, Steve Trachsel, Mike Stanton, they did have Mo Vaughn (too bad he's gone *gloomy*), and they're soon to have Sammy Sosa. The Braves oldest player is Julio Franco, who can still do some damage.
Anyways, I don't think the Astros will return to the postseason. Biggio is on the decline, they got rid of Kent, Beltran will sign with the Cubs after Sosa is traded, and Wade Miller and Roger Clemens will both be gone. St. Louis doesn't have pitching to get back to the World Series, but they have enough hitting to get back to the playoffs, but I think the Cubs will win the division this season.

Red Sox: If they do in fact lose Pedro look for the team to take a step down, but not enough to drop out of the playoffs.
Yankees: Will do whatever it takes to make it back in
Twins: Free Agency could do damage in this division, but I agree the Indians are maturing and look like the favorites thus far so I'll say no.
Angels: Will, they will go out get another starter, enough to take the division a second straight season.
Braves: No, I only say this for now of course Drew will be gone and Phillie will finally get a manager that will take them to glory.
St Louis: Yes, coming back with the same type of team you have to think they can do it again.
Dodgers: Completely not sure yet, but I'll say no because I think San Diego will step up.
Houston: They are headed downhill while teams that could be fighting for that wildcard are headed up aka Cubs.
Also these predictions are completely without knowing what is going to happen this offseason so they arent that valid to me.

In the AL, the Yankess, Red Sox, and Twins will. The A's will be back and win the division with an improved bullpen, and beat out Anaheim, unless Anaheim gets Randy Johnson.
In the NL, either the Braves will be back or the Phillies will be there, depending on who signs the better free agents. The Cardinals and Dodgers will be back, but the Astros will be beat out by the Chicago Cubs.

The Sox, Twins and Rangers will win the Divisions, while the Yanks will grab a WC in 2005.
The Braves, Padres and Cardinals will win the divsions, while the Cubs take a WC.

I think the Mets have a few too many question marks. There's a lot of potential on the squad; a few lucky breaks and the Mets will be in the post season. A few unlucky breaks and the team is in the gutter again.
Unfortuantely, that is the way it's been in Flushing since Olerud left.

There's a few too many unlucky breaks in Flushing, like Jose Reyes, Kaz Matsui, Cliff Floyd, and Mo Vaughn. *stupid*

Not entirely, we had some lucky breaks in 2000, 2001 - bad 1st half, great 2nd half. 2002 - let's not talk about it. 2003 - See: 2002. 2004 - great up until August when everybody got hurt at once.

AL East-Yankees, they really are getting on every little detail in how they lost the ALCS last year and how they can improve and they will fill in all their holes
AL Central-Indians, the Twins are gonna lose Koskie and Radke and have already lost Guzman, the Indians are gonna be the Angels of 2002 and take the AL Central out of nowhere
AL West-Rangers, best young infield, hitting prospects coming up, pitching will improve with Drese and Rogers leading again and Frank Francisco back
AL Wildcard-Red Sox will return to the playoffs and I believe they could repeat or at least get into the ALCS again but signs of age and losses of Varitek and Lowe can hurt them
NL East-Marlins, the Marlins pitching staff will be at full health and we are gonna see the first MVP-like season out of Miguel Cabrera, Beckett will also make his first All-Star team and maybe D-Train will go too
NL Central-Astros, I really thought they were the best team last year and they have an awesome pitching staff, and the best closer you dont know about in Brad Lidge, they still have awesome hitting but need to make sure they can keep Beltran and/or Kent
NL West-the Padres will now emerge as the Marlins of 2003, they are going to be hot and young in the second half and Jake Peavey will become a Cy Young candidate, Josh Barfield may also be rookie of the year
NL Wildcard-Cardinals, they may be losing their ace(Morris) and shortstop(Renteria) which is mainly why i put them in the wildcard instead of the division, those are gaping holes in an awesome team but they will be contenders again this year

ok here is how it will go...
AL East- Boston Redsox... they have made huge offers to pedro, edgar renteria and reportedly have went after carl pavano.. that would just set them above all..
Al Central- Detroit Tigers- They have signed Percival, and are close to Lowe,Matt Morris, and are going to try and beat out boston for pavano... with pena and pudge and a healthy young offense its possible.. and with an emerging Bonderman and improving Maroth their roto is just getting better.
AL West - Oakland A's- adding Jason Kendall, the Big 3(mulder,hudson,zito)still together for one year, a healty mark ellis at 2b, ROY- bobby crosby and a healthy Eric Chavez... they have more depth now than texas
AL Wild Card- New York Yankees.. I have no realy reason why for them.. they will buy their way into the playoffs and screw themselves over like last year.
NL East- The Nationals are making this a competitive division and i think they can take it... Atlanta is looking to move Andruw Jones, Florida Fizzed out from thier WS win, The mets are a huge ? and the phils have lost millwood/milton
NL Central- The Cardinals- best offensive team ever... up the middle is young but weak.. molina can swing a stick, and they could be back in the WS again..
NL West- San Francisco- They have Bonds and are adding Alou... they will have some wicked numbers because if they dont toss to bonds they will have to to alou.. he will have a carreer year for daddy in SF.
NL Wildcard - San Diego Padres - great young staff, Khalil Greene, and some great young players... enough said.. i cut the astros from this... They lost Clemens,Beltran, biggio and bags are more than likly done after this year, kent is gone and likly headed to detroit, and morgan ensberg busted this year.. so with an old offense and no 2b/cf, and losing the Cy Young Winner will definatly hurt them.
Play off Predictions
ALDS:
Boston over Detroit
New York over Oakland
ALCS:
Boston over New York
NLDS:
St. Louis over San Diego
San Francisco over Washington
NLCS:
St. Louis over San Francisco
WS:(rematch)
St. Louis over Boston

The Nationals don't have anything close to resembling a pitching staff, and their lineup is pretty much unchanged from last season. Cabrera > Guzman, Everett = Guillen (both in attitude and ability), and Batista = Castilla.

There is no way the Nationals will win their division this year.

Okay people, need I remind you that the Astros are going to lose Roger Clemens, Wade Miller, Jeff Kent, and Carlos Beltran all in one season? That would leave their starting lineup as follows:
1B - Bagwell
2B - Biggio
SS - Everett
3B - Ensberg/Lamb
LF - Berkman
CF - Lane
RF - ?
SP - Pettitte
SP - Oswalt
SP - Backe
SP - ?
SP - ?
RP - Lidge

I dunno if Clemens is a sure thing yet, and neither is Beltran. If they do both decide to leave, they've still got Jason Lane, Taylor Bucholz and need I mention millions of bucks to replace them.
