According to a team that has spoken with the Cubs, Chicago has at least kicked around the possibility of trying out Kerry Wood as a closer, if they can't obtain one elsewhere.
I got this off another site.
I highly doubt this will happen cause if they do the cubsa are just idiots. Nuff said.

I can guarantee you that this will never happen. :)

I had better not happen. Wood is way too good to be closing when he's so young.
The Cubs would be major idiots to do that.

I would definately rather have him pitch 6-8 good innings than for him to pitch one good inning. They might be able to let him do it two days after a start or something. So he gets one full day of rest, closes a game, gets another full day off, and then starts again. That would be weird, but it might work if they are willing to try it.

As much as I hate Joe Blowoski as our closer, he is a much more viable option than Ryan Dempster, but if, and only if, Blowoski goes back onto whatever steroids he took in 2003. :)

If Kerry Wood goes to the closer role he would be the most dominant closer in baseball.. Id take wood over Gagne or Rivera anytime. This would be better than smoltz closing.

Unless het gets injured again, he will remain a starter.

Wood wouldnt be a good closer he doesnt have enough control. He would walk 2 people then all hell would break loose.

Kind of like Benitez used to be.
