View Full Version : White Sox trade Lee to Brewers

According to ESPN's Jayson Stark, the Brewers have acquired Carlos Lee from the White Sox for Scott Podsednik, Luis Vizcaino and a player to be named.
This could be good trade for the White Sox if the money saved is used on a quality starter or Placido Polanco. We're not at all confident Podsednik will go back to being a quality regular, but he is very cheap and Vizcaino is a fine No. 2 man in the pen. It's too bad the Dustin Hermanson acquisition can't be undone now, but the addition of Vizcaino could get Hermanson put into the rotation.
Wow. I was not expecting this move at all. Then again, Kenny Williams has been known to make bad deals. This is just another one of the many ugly deals. :)

I can't believe they just did that. I love Carlos Lee and wanted to see him stay with the Sox for many more years. Pod can be good for the top of the order if he hits like he did in '03 and Vizcaino is a solid reliever but I sure wouldn't have given up Lee for them.

NO!!!!!!! What the hell was he thinking? Sure Podsednik was a good stud in the minors, but his primary position is CF, where a growing star in Rowand is playing. Now one of them will have to play an unfamiliar position. Lee was frikken awesome. Horrible move. If they're trying to work on pitching..then we're turning into the next L.A. Dodgers: Good pitching, no offense (but we still have Dye, Rowand, and Konerko). If anything, get Ben Sheets :)
Thank God the trade isn't official yet
EDIT:
Darn it is official. *mad*

HEHEHEHE!!!! I like this deal for the Brew Crew, they finally get some MUCH needed help at offense. As for losing Posednik, yeh I'll miss him and all but Krynzel isnt that big of step down. Vizcaino was a solid reliever but I'll give them up to get Lee :D. Now picture if the Brewers could sign Clement... :)

Inconsistensy the past two years is the only downside to Vizcaino. He posted a 3.75 ERA last year but a 6.39 the year before, and a 2.99 the year before that.

I know he has speed. He's got some pop too, kinda like Ichiro. I just hope him and Dye are enough to replace Mags and Lee in the OF. It looks like Joe Crede will need to have a breakout year if the Sox are going to win...

Even when they had Maggs and Lee, it wasn't enough, so do you really think they can win this year? :D ;)

I love this deal for both teams... Chisox gets a huge boost at leadoff and brewcrew has had a huge lift helping jenkins/overbay with offense
