Its been rumored that the Minnnesota Twins are close on a deal with 3rd basemen Joe Randa in the 1.75 million range for one year and they are pursing him more since Corey Koskie left for the Blue Jays. This would be a nice pickup for them so they do not have to fall back on undeveloped prospects.

And they are likely to announce soon that they re-signed Terry Muhalland to a one year contract for 700,000 soon. Which is not bad he can be a good 5th starter or a long reliever and he is a veteran on a farly young pitching staff that includes Santana (25 years old), Carlos Silva (25 years old), Kyle Lohse (26 years old). With the signing it will help keep Durbin and Baker in AAA so they can develop more. With this signing they can keep there rotation full and if they sign a nice #3-4 starter he can go in the pen where he is more valuable to the Twins.

This is great. Koskie wasn't that good anyway you put it so it's a good pickup

He was injuried for most of the season last year and still hit I believe 25 homers and could hit 30 if he finds his stroke early and doesn't get hurt. But his glove is one of the best at 3rd if not the best and that glove will be missed, we lost two great fielders at the corners which will hurt.

I would have loved Koskie back, but I would have to say Randa is the best option out there right now.

I read in ESPN the Magazine that there was some speculation about moving Joe Mauer to third, but Minnosota decided that he was too good behind the plate.

Well that will always be there if his knee doesn't hold up.

Like Twins said that will be if his knee(s) can't hold up at catcher. But I think they should give him one more shot at catcher this year and if his knee doesn't get better start talking to him bout moving him to third. I don't think they should have him play catcher if his knees aren't great.
