Thats awesome if they did, he was the heart of the team. With him coming back the team would look like this...
C- J. Varitek
1B- K. Millar
2B - M. Bellhorn
3B - B. Mueller
SS - E. Renteria
LF - M. Ramirez
CF - J. Damon
RF - T. Nixon
DH - D. Ortiz
Rotation
1. C. Schilling
2. W. Miller
3. M. Clement
4. D. Wells
5. T. Wakefield
I think the Offense and the Pitching have both in proved, the rest of the MLB better look out. Im feeling a repeat.

I heard him or Millar is gonna be traded...he is on the bench right now.
Or him and Millar are gonna split time at first, but Millar doesnt like that.

The Boston Red Sox are close to re-signing catcher Jason Varitek.
The catcher has agreed in principle to a four-year, $40 million contract, but there are details to be worked out, ESPN's Peter Gammons reports.
Scott Boras, Varitek's agent, had told other teams he would not discuss Varitek until negotiations with Boston had been exhausted because the catcher wants to return to the Red Sox.
Varitek, known for his handling of pitchers, was Boston's top priority among its four high-profile free agents.
Since being obtained in a trade with Seattle in 1997, Varitek has a .271 batting average with 97 homers and 418 RBI in 832 games.
Pitcher Pedro Martinez agreed to a $53 million, four-year deal with the New York Mets, and shortstop Orlando Cabrera got a $32 million, four-year contract from Anaheim after Boston signed Edgar Renteria and declined to pursue pitcher Derek Lowe.
The World Series champions have added starting pitchers Wade Miller, David Wells and Matt Clement this offseason.

They could just bench Nixon because he only hits the ball maybe 2% of the time.

Mientkiewicz would be great off the bench when you need a pinch hitter or a defensive replacement if Millar gets on base and they pinch run like they did in the WS. Or just check the matchups and see who's good against who

Nixon hits the ball 2% of the time? Keep in mind he was hurt this year, and look what hes done in recent years. Hes pretty good. Look what he did to the Yankees in the playoffs the year before this postseason. He murdered them. Hes pretty good, he just needs to get healthy again.

Yeah but Doug plays a better 1B that Millar and hits more consistantly than Nixon. I'd take Doug over Trot anyday.

Trot plays RF.. not 1B.
Edit: And Mientkiewicz cant hit for his ass. He plays a mean D tho.

They would be traded if they be smart and sign Delgado, which in turn could lead up to them trading Bronson and whatever for A.J. Burnett which is rumored, at least Ive heard that anyway. If we got Delgado and Burnett.. I dont know what to say here.. wed be VERY VERY hard to beat in every game. Wed also have the best rotation in baseball at that.. and actually right now I think we do if Wade stays healthy.

Burnett has no control 4.00 Era at best, at Fenway i dont like his chances, i would rather keep Bronson in the pen and Wakefield as number 5....
Whoever said Wells is gonna be number 2 is wrong if Miller is healthy no way in hell Wells out pitches him.
Trot is a .270 25 Hr guy, If we kept Mientkiewicz and started Millar in RF instead of 1B we would lose about 15 Hr's.

Bellhorn is decent.. just not the best at defense.

Yeah well trade Arroyo for a better 2B
Dont trade Arroyo for Burnett, who we dont need. We have a great 1-5 right now.

Why you keep calling him Wade but you use the last name for everyone else. And why the f do you call Pedro, Petey?
Miller is better then Clement and Wells the only way he isnt number 2 is if he is hurt.

Ya but he was hurt about 2/4 of the year.

Why does it matter? And Clement is better then -->MILLER<--(happy).

The addition of Burnett would help our roto and pen... but I like Arroyo.

Rotation
1. C. Schilling
2. W. Miller
3. M. Clement
4. D. Wells
5. T. WakefieldWhere does this leave Bronson Arroyo? He is only 22 years old and has many years ahead of him. Not to mention that he had several clutch relief appearances in the ALCS against the Yanks. I guess you could convert him to relief or even trade him, but I think he would fair better as a starter.

I believe the lineup will go:
Jesus
Renteria
Manny
Ortiz
Varitek
Millar
Nixon
Mueller
Bellhorn
Rotation:
Schilling
Wells
Clement
Miller
Wakefield
Thats as the rosters stand without further trades/signings in my perspective.
