2004 SEASON STATISTICS

Eckstein became a free agent earlier this week when the Anaheim Angels signed Orlando Cabrera and declined to offer him a contract by the Dec. 20 deadline. He will replace Edgar Renteria, who recently left for Boston as a free agent, as the starting shortstop in St. Louis.

Eckstein, Anaheim's shortstop since 2001, batted .276 last season with two homers and 35 RBI in 142 games.

Eckstein, 29, has a .278 career batting average. He hit .293 with eight homers and 63 RBI during the Angels' 2002 championship season. He hit safely in 13 of Anaheim's 16 postseason games that year, and scored six runs in the seven-game World Series.

I agree. We love kids like this in St. Louis. He's like Bo Hart with actual credibility.

Hey now.. dont diss Bo. Bo saved your asses for a little while when Vina went down. He was NUTS. But now he just kinda.. lost it all lol.

Wasn't dissing Bo at'all. Bo Hart had no credibility, due to the fact he had no ML experience. You can't tell me that a WS ring isn't credibility enough. Eh?

We got Eckstein and Mulder!!! *banana*

Nice signing for the Cards. He's no Renteria but he'll do a good job replacing him. And nice to see him going to a good club like the Cardinals.

actually this is tough for me since im a huge redbirds fan but i dont like this. Stlcardinals.com said that eckstein would play 2B. and i am a huge bo hart fan and i think bo could do just as well at 2b as eck. now i wont complain if it ends up being bo/eck up the middle but chances of that is slim and none. id rather take Bo Hart in this situation than eck.. i guess its becuase im parcial to bo but whatever... im not to happy with jocketty anyway. he doesnt know how to handle free agents and never has. but he does manage to make 1 big trade a year.. kinda makes ya wonder if he will make his trademark trade at the deadline since he made it early bringing us the left wonder boy mulder..that was a good pickup

Well, who would you rather have? Bo Hart at 2B or Hector Luna at SS? I think I'd take Luna.

Id take Luna as well.. hes a stud and still quite young. Eck/Luna up the middle is still quit nice. But we got Renteria arguably the best SS out there all around.
