Hes spending liek 250 Million this year, even thats to much for his dumb ass.
Penning10
01-09-2005, 06:27 AM
The Yanks payroll is already astronomical, and anything they pay to Beltran would be +40% because of the luxury tax. I don't think it's happening.
Arsenal
01-09-2005, 06:29 AM
I thought it was only a bit over $200 million this year.
Heh, only.
DONtheGREAT23
01-09-2005, 06:33 AM

01-09-2005, 06:35 AM
I hope Carlos Beltran signs with the New York Yankees.
Arsenal
01-09-2005, 06:35 AM
Agreed. Steinbrenner definately didn't want Pedro unless the Sox were going to get him.

Everywhere else says Cubs and Mets prepare to make pitches ( I love how they don't include Yankees)
Peabody

The Houston Chronicle article is PURE speculation, take it for a grain of sand.
Arsenal
01-09-2005, 06:47 AM
Yeah, thought so.. I don't think he would sign that quickly.
badbeanies
01-09-2005, 06:47 AM
There are also articles where Steinbrenner says I don't want him and he doesn't want to offer
Arsenal
01-09-2005, 06:48 AM
Steinbrenner is laying low. I'll bet he makes at least some bid.
DONtheGREAT23
01-09-2005, 06:49 AM
i dont rule anything out until there is a contract signed and reported by mlb.com, well, except for him returning to houston

i wouldnt be so sure. it could be the move they make to get some real publicity and respect from the rest of the league and bump them up from 4th to 3rd in the division. *lol* *lol*

He's officially not going to be an Astro, according to the Astros' website.
He will most likely be a Met but nothing is final yet
Btw, Badbeanies, in your sig, you do know Doleac got cut from the Knicks don't you?
Arsenal

lol. He would be double the rest of their roster combined...maybe triple. Hell, his asking price may be quadruple !!!
badbeanies
01-09-2005, 07:07 AM
I didn't. I would never have guessed he would be cut by the knicks if he was traded the ATL for Nazr Mohammed straight up. Then went on waivers and got picked up by the Nuggets then traded or became an FA and Miami gave him a nice offer.
