View Full Version : Maybe it was Tomlinson's fault.

Probably the coaches fault because he let the plays run one too many. I think it may have been partly Tomlinson's fault. The kick wasn't too far right, but it was. Tomlinson ran it to the right hash and the kick was to the right...so? Maybe it was kind of his fault.

Anyone agree with me?

No, it was Marty's fault. He called the HB dive to the right. They have a good offense, at the 25 yard line, in the rain and muddy conditions, but they didn't even try to get yards, with a rookie kicker, in a pressure situation. I don't understand it.

Agreed. Uh, this guy won Coach of the Year. All he did today was make calls like this and made his own unsportsmanlike conduct call. But I have to admit something, the kicker does look good and I would trust him with a 40-yarder, maybe not to the right anymore ;)

They should have taken a shot at the endzone on first down of their last series. Even Madden knew that they should have thrown it to the endzone and try to get it all right their. They are retards for not passing at all on the last series.

That's cause you wanted the Jets to win.

you make it sound as if its wrong to root for some mistake to happen for the team you like to win

You should root for good things for your team, not bad things for the other team. Unless its against the Red Sox and you're a Yankee fan. ;)

Not really. Yankees and Sox hate each other with a passion. Jets and Chargers just had a playoff game, no rivalry.

So just because there's no rivalry you can't hope for something to go wrong so your team benefits? Hoping for a missed field goal and hoping for an injury are two different things.

i know it sounds dumb but i called the choke. if that doesnt happen, the jets lose. sharks put it perfectly. jets fans have ti root for a miss.

Yeah I agree. I would say Yankees-Red Sox is probably the biggest rivalry in American Sports (Bigger rivals in Euro Football)

Jets were lucky to win the game.. and you cant begin to deny that. Chargers pretty much choked.. like the Yankees, and many other teams have done so many times.

That game had no business being in overtime. The Jets should have won 17-10, so I must be missing the luck thing. How come the losing team isn't allowed to get lucky every once in a while?

This has to be one of the worst, most pointless threads of all-time. What is this board coming to when we are discussing whether or not it is right for something bad to happen to the other team? *stupid*

I agree completely with the first half and I disagree completely with the second half of that sentence.

Jets really were lucky. The chargers weren't "lucky" to get that penalty, the Jets were lucky for him to miss that Field Goal though.

Look,
I am a SD fan, for about 15 years. Dont say SD choled. They didnt, Kaeding choked. If you like the Bolts, great, if not, thats fine to. Everyone is entitled to route for or against anyone you like. Routing for a team to lose if your choice. Doesnt make you a bad person. It doesnt add anything to the team morale. Its what you do in your own home. Who cares if you route for or against a team. Do what you want. Anyone that takes a moral stand on the ability to route for or against any sports team is a retard. Period.
BTW- if youre looking for the biggest rivalry in all of American sports, in regards to attendence and the number of people watching, Army/Navy game and Ohio State/Michigan both outrank NY/Bos. NY/Bos has more history, which makes it more interesting. I dont care for either, so I just watch to see a good game.

Well football stadiums tend to have a larger capacity than baseball stadiums.

how do you account for the TV audience? Army Navy has the advantage of about 14 to 1. Stadium size doest affect that.

Also keep in mind that there is one Army/Navy game each year, compared to about 20 Red Sox/Yankees games (or more if they play in the playoffs). Add on the fact that more people like football than baseball as a whole, and it's not hard to see why Army/Navy gets better TV ratings than Yanks/Red Sox (if it does, I don't really have any idea)

It probably does, people all around the country can probably watch it. Not all Yankees-Sox games are nationally televised, probably no regular season ones are. I hardly ever see them on ESPN.

Back to the topic. Kaeding wanted the ball on the right hash mark i live in San Diego and one of the local News stations talked to him and he said he wanted it on the right hash mark.

That's not the problem I have with Marty's call. If he wants it on the right hash mark, fine. But to run three straight dive plays basically so they have no chance of getting closer, or God forbid, get another first down is what was stupid.

Heres the thing...all kickers have to do is KICK. they dont run other plays, they dont have to tackle, or run or catch...just kick.

I think every time a Kicker misses under 50 yards he should be fined. Now if its pouring and he slips, the holder botches, snapper messes up, ok. When theres little or no wind, a good snap and a good hold, every miss should cost them 50k.

Maybe they will practice more kicking when everyone else is running laps, learning plays and being a football player.

thats rediculous. do you want to tell a quarterback to be fined every time he throws an into? or fine defensive guys for every missed tackle? fine wide outs for every dropped ball? no. you cant expect anything to be automatic

I am a SD fan, for about 15 years. Dont say SD choled. They didnt, Kaeding choked.I have been a Chargers fan since November 28, 1986. Nate Kaeding did "choke," but the loss was not his fault. The Chargers had numerous opprontunities to score before it came down to the field goal. The Chargers defense also had an opprotunity to stop the Jets from getting down field. Keep in mind that Doug Brien, the "Hero" missed from roughly the same spot on the Jets first drive.

Just a little food for a thought, I'm eager awaiting to see your reply.
