View Full Version : Lockout for the best...

Sure, we miss hockey, but the lockout (if/when it does cancel the entire season) will be for the best. We don't want the NHL to turn into Major League baseball, do we? teams like the Leafs, Red Wings, Filthadelphia Flyers, Rangers....they can't run the league year after year, scooping up all the talent. The strong stance taken by the owners will eventually make the NHLPA crumble. I just hope the casual fans return to the sport. Luckily, hockey has such a rabid and dedicated fan base which will come back regardless.

not a big hockey fan but the Rangers normally suck don't they. Also the NHL would go bankrupt if all the players wanted too much more money. Every year constantly the sport is losing money. The owners should win this for the betterment of the sport

Haha... yeah they have been for the past few seasons... even without the cap.

I think that the Western Conference proved your argument wrong. The Calgary Flames and the San Jose Sharks in the Finals. Then the Tampa Bay Lightning winning the cup, where do you get this small market MLB-like uncompetitiveness from?

All I know is that I am ready to see Tkachuk and Pronger back out on the ice for my Blues.

PS- All Time favorite Blue: Brian Sutter #11.

Oh, I'm just as hungry to see the Wreckin' Ball, Mark Recchi back in a Penguins sweater along side Mario....

One of the main things the lockout will accomplish is the diffusion of talent throughout the league. Teams like the Leafs, Avs, Wings won't be able to afford their talent...therefore star players would spread out to other teams.

I agree fully.

Filthadelphia Flyers
Are you sad because we dominate your Penguins year after year?

If there's one thing the league needs to do, it's contract crap teams like Pittsburgh.

Crap? Tell me Hoochie, when was the last time the Flyers won the cup? thats what I thought. Oh, 3 seasons ago they made it to the Eastern Conference finals, further than the Flyers did...By the way, the Pens held their own against the Filthadelphia Flyers last year, whose payroll is easily twice as much.

Contract crap teams like Pittsburgh? Ok, you'd contract probably 20 some teams from the league because they don't have the funds to compete consistently. Wow, a league with maybe a dozen teams like Toronto, Colorado, Detroit, New York Rangers, Philly and a few others would sure be exciting.
Get your facts straight...

They overexpanded majorly. There should only be about 16 teams, and even that is pushing it. If anything, they should expand more into Canada, and stay in the Northern states.

Nobody cares about Hockey down here. Shit, people barely care about baseball.

I regret to say that I never stated any facts, all of those were opinion. And you know what, it's my opinion that the league would be better off without teams that have no talent. Point in case, Pittsburgh.

The Pens holding their own against the flyers last year? I seem to remember a certain team getting 101 points and getting the third seed. Another team came in DEAD LAST IN THE LEAGUE with 58 points. Can you guess which team is which?

Hockey in AZ was just starting to catch on. With the new arena, everyone was looking forward to actually watching the Coyotes.

I was at least. :) But I'd hate to see any professional sport turn into MLB. I honestly think no baseball player should have a salary over $5 million. And that's being nice. I mean, it's sick when a professional athlete is paid more than a teacher or a doctor.

On the subject of professional athletes... its time to get our heroes straight... someone who makes jump off the couch and say YAY! is not a hero... those forgotten... laying on the cold damp ground, alone... our the heroes.

holding their own against the flyers means that when the Pens played the Flyers, they played well. Where the teams finished in the league doesn't matter. Wow, can you even make a logical point? Typical, stupid Filthadelphian.

Interesting concept. The standings don't matter. *lol* Loving that logic.

LOGICAL POINT TIME

If one team has more wins and points then the other, than the team with more is better.

END LOGICAL POINT TIME

Nah, Hockey did not stop for the best. A lot of people did not watch the regular season (Like me). I did watch the playoffs though which was very exciting to see the Islanders in last season. Also, when they lost, I still watched it (the playoffs that is)
