View Full Version : How biased can Fox possibly get?

First off, let me say I didn't find anything wrong with Moss's celebration, or at least not as much as many others seem to have had.
My first issue is with the post-game report by Fox. The problem with it being that they didn't even talk about the, um, football game. The Vikings just won their biggest game in years, and all the announcers can talk about is how Moss was just completely classless, and just immature and stupid. Where was Fox the first time these teams met, when the Wisconsin Band was at Lambeau and taunted Moss for not playing while he was hurt? Bottom line, if anyone on the Packers had done the same celebration, heck if anyone else on the Vikings had done the same celebration, there would not be the same uproar there is now. But because Randy Moss is Randy Moss, they won't even mention that he caught 4 passes for 70 yards and 2 TD on a badly sprained ankle.
Next, Darrl Johnston's article on foxsports.com (http://msn.foxsports.com/story/3305788). Some things really upset me about, such as Johnston saying Vikings fans should find a new team to root for. He goes on to say Randy Moss is the ultimate knucklehead, and should be fined. Geez Darryl, my vote for ultimate knucklehead would be a guy like Ray Lewis, who has a hand in murder, not Randy Moss, who celebrated after a game clinching TD in the playoffs against their biggest rival, but I guess that's just me.
Last, the media simply needs to stop praising Favre like he is some sort of god. Seriously, last play of the half, he runs towards the end zone, and looks like he may be able to get a TD or first down. Instead of putting his head down and trying to run it in, he throws the ball up even though he is 4 yards beyond the line of scrimmage. After that play, Favre was smiling and laughing even though he cost his team a shot at a TD, and as it turns out, any points. Instead of chastising Favre for a stupid, stupid play, Fox commentators praise him for having fun. No mention of how terrible the play was, just how Favre is having fun out on the field.
Again, if Moss had avoided contact and made a stupid play, they'd be all over him like TC Dale on a controversial thread. Just another example of the hypocritical media. Also, listening to the commentators, it didn't sound like any of the INT were Favre's fault. Either the reciever ran a bad route, or the line didn't block well enough, etc. This guy can do no wrong, despite single handedly losing the game for GB.

Dont forget last year when Farve threw the worse pass i have ever seen to end the game against the Eagles, in the playoffs.

Few things I agree with and I few things I disagree with. First off I must say don't listen to Johnston because he is an idiot. I'll agree its an article good for a recyling bin. But flat out the guy shouldnt be an "expert". I will also agree on the post game show. It should be about the game that was played. Though this thing brings up a question mark like in the Washington game, the point of this entire game was Minnesota finally broke the curse of choking in the clutch and played outstanding. Now for my agrument. If Burleson or Wiggins or someone else pulled it, they would be under the same heat a GB player would be under for pulling it. It is not on Minnesota, its on Moss and the stunts he himself pulls. This was just another way of drawing more attention to himself. As for the band thing, I agree that it was a cheap shot at Moss but it wasnt as bad as what Moss did. All the stunts Owens pulls kids are starting to copy them somewhere. If kids copy a stunt like this :/. But that is me going a bit over the top, plus I think it was a playful thing. Not as bad as everyone thinks, but still worthy of a fine because yes it was crossing the line. You will have a different opinion as a Viking fan, honestly if a Packer pulled it I would laugh but I would also expect that player to be fined. Some of the picks were not Favre's fault. The one to Williams there is absolutely no excuse for. Actually after Favre threw that forward pass across the line of scrimmage, the commentators did say that he should have kept running with it. It was a stupid play and yes he did get ripped for it. You have to remember something, this is a guy that is built on class and is someone that you dont want to rip into. Rarely will the media rip into Peyton Manning as well, because both are classy players that go out and do their job every week. The media thrives off players like Moss and Plummer. Moss a little more for his actics, that Favre has never pulled. Plummer for his play making and middle finger, which he has not made a name for himself in DEN like Favre has in GB. They gave Moss all the credit he deserved until after that one play. Also I wouldnt pay too much attention to Buck anyways, he isnt the greatest announcer football or baseball. Bottomline: Vikings did not get the credit they deserved for the victory, yet it is not all the media's fault. The celebration was a bit unnecessary and did easily help take the emphasis off on the win and put it back on Moss's shoulders.

Let me clarify, I'm ok if Moss gets fined, I won't be outraged or anything, I just hate how everyone is focusing on that more than the actual game.

Hell, be happy they didn't compare the Packers to the GOP and call Farve Bush and compare Moss to Kerry.
CBS has better announcers IMO
Well, it's just stupid, Moss does a celebration that's a little questionable and FOX acts like he's the biggest moron that ever played. But Brett Favre makes one of the biggest bone-head plays ever, and they act like he's a genious. But of course they aren't the least bit biased.

I liked it. It was original and funny. And like Tony Dungy said, Packer fans moon the away teams bus when they leave. Payback's a *****.

Packer fans should be glad they even got to see their team in the playoffs. The NFC is THAT BAD that they got in. Plus, what was wrong with it if he didnt actually pull down his pants. Nothing.

Uh then the Viking fans should feel even more lucky? I liked Pardon the Interuption. They finally came out and said, guess what IT ISNT THAT BAD. It wasnt, yes fine worthy, I wouldnt mind a 5k. This is a GB fan saying, yes it was very slightly offensive, but it is not that bad. It isnt against the Packers and then I would laugh. I had the same reaction when Owens pulled out the poms poms. When Pack fans see it later I bet some of them will lighten up, if they havent already. Also, I am really sick of hearing the opinions of Packer haters on this just getting the opprotunity to bash the Pack. Favre will be gone soon and you guys will be able to live it up on how much we are going to suck *mad* .

I'm not blaming Packer fans for any of this. Heck, if someone did this to the Vikings I'm not sure what I'd think. My only problem is strictly with the Media.

this was horrible. but not by moss, by the media. if almost any other player did it, it would not have been a big deal at all. they would have gotten their fine, and that would be the end of it. but the media hates randy moss and they are blowing this out of proportion. he didnt even moon the fans, he faked it.

FOX needs to stop riding the dicks of T.O. and Brett Favre like they are some almighty Gods. Michael Vick and the Falcons have been down that road, and have torched Brett Favre. :)
I found Randy Moss' act humourous if anything, and he played a great game.

If you want to see real sports and real reporting watch ESPN. Fox should stick to softcore Porn and rednecks on Jerry Springer. Fox Sports is like watching a Rated R movie on NBC...really no point.
