I just heard on the radio that Delgado will not go to the rangers because he wants to play 1B not DH. They said the new front runners are the Mets who are supposingly going to offer a 4th year. I heard this on New York WFAN 660

New York Radio Station?

If I'm Delgado, I want to play DH. Not 1B. It would pro-long his career and let him focus on his hitting rather than his fielding.

Best news all day. Thank you Carlos Delgado for taking your 35 home runs out of the AL West.

Ya, TR Sullivan of the Star Telegram reports that the Rangers will drop out of the Delgado chase because he declined their 4 year $48 million offer. Baltimore, New York Mets, and Florida have all reportedly upped their offers to 4 years and $48 million.

Stupid Delgado. We would have let him play first some. I was really looking forward to adding another 30 homerun hitter to the lineup.

Well, According to the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinal, the Mets withdrew their offer right after the Rangers did yesterday. Apparently Florida is now in the lead over Baltimore.

Maybe the Mets ran out of money...without Delgado, they'll do better. They've got several prospects coming up (Wright, Diaz, Fortunato, Milledge). I think they'll start bad (37-44), then rebound (49-32) to have an 86-76 record.

Yeah, I heard the Marlins and the Orioles are the only teams left.
