I thought they were pretty good. Deffinatly worth the read IMO even if you don't like halo. The 1st and 3rd books are the best, the 2nd one was written by someone else I think but was still pretty good.

why do they make books out of video games? The story is in the game and I don't see why you would have to write the story out seperatly.

yeah the 2nd was written by someone else, but if you got the time id say read em. They don't take very long to read. Just don't expect more than a B scifi plot though.

The books were very detailed, giving the reader an inside look at the events before Halo 1 (the beginning of the Spartan program, the young Spartans' early training, the first contact with the Covenant), a thorough run-through of the events of Halo 1 (complete with a before-its-time Covenant side story), and a chronicle of what happened between the end of Halo 1 and the beginning of Halo 2.

The storytelling is pretty shallow, especially in the second book, but as I said earlier, only hardcore fans need apply. For us, the books help bring the Halo universe to even more life, expanding the Halo canon.

well they do have the "Xbox" logo and things like "the official novel of the award-winning Xbox game!" and "the official prequel to the award-winning XBox game!"

They're alright. If you want a little more detail and if you like visualizing stuff its pretty good, but as far as pure writing goes its around average. Guy goes in, pops out a couple hundred pages for a book based on a video game, and he goes out a couple hundred thou richer.
