It's for OEM, but that's nearly everyone with XP. My next PC is going to be a Mac.

I thought about a Mac myself, for web browsing.

Or so they want you to believe. And this is gonna cause a huge uproar believe me. The software that I bought I can't reinstall? WTF is that.

The other thing is don't activate your windows. Install windows and then disable activation.

This below is a pisser though for those that don't have a legitimate copy:

Other recent actions that Microsoft has taken against piracy include the Windows Genuine Advantage program, in which Windows users must verify their license in order to access Windows Update and the Microsoft Download Center. Incentives, such as special downloads and discounts on Microsoft products, are offered to users with legitimate licenses. Even non-legit users, however, will continue to receive critical updates to Windows

I don't ever remember activating my Windows... and I have a legal copy. So basically if I ever want to reformat my computer, I have to call Windows first?

I don't ever remember activating my Windows... and I have a legal copy. So basically if I ever want to reformat my computer, I have to call Windows first?Well after you install Windows XP you're going to have to call Microsoft to activate your key. Otherwise you have 30 days to do so.

I have already activeated my copy of windows online the max amount of times when reformting my PC. Calling them is a real pain, especially attemping to cut through the thick accents there service reps have. I just disable activation so I don't have to both with them...ever.
