What do you think gaming and computers will be like in, say, 10 years. I think we will have consoles that are as good as computers. A cheap easy alternative to computers is a console. All the companies are leaning towards computer and console hybrids.

Far into the future too many developers will be obsessed with having photo realistic graphics in there games that the gameplay is terrible. Good bye golden age of gaming. :(

I think we will have new consoles and more developers...making the gaming industry even more diverse. I also think that the graphics on the games will be very excellent.

My outlook is bleak because i dont think Nintendo can survive with MORONIC casual gamers. Nintendo is the ONLY company looking to make innovative and unique games, but casual gamers dont care about that, and as long as they start taking over the gaming business we wont see innovative games anymore.

Different = better

Gunpei I like the way you think. That is exactly my thoughts. But, the way the average gamer games, there wont be a Nintendo in 10 years. They want blood. I predict many many mature rated games with a lot of blood.

Gunpei, just because you dont agree with something, doesnt make it wrong. You dont have to call people MORONIC because they dont feel the same as you.

They are moronic because they believe a Realistic Zelda is better then a cel shaded one NO MATTER WHAT and they NEVER change their opinion. Just look at SonicvsMario for crying outloud.

Many companies will merge, and it will be hard for most 3rd party developers. 1st party developers will collapse / consolidate, there will be a major slowdown in the market, but it will gradually pick-up again. Nintendo or Microsoft will be completely gone from the home console business, and Sony's lead will be very slim - if they even have one. The graphics will be awesome, as everyone should have a HDTV by then.

They lack an "open mind", it happens...unfortunately...

If the graphics don't become "awsome" the people will loose interest in it.

i think almost all games will be played online, consoles will become more powerful, games more grand, and prices even more ridiculous. of course in all this, truly great gameplay probably will be lost. i can only hope that nintendo can stay afloat until then. if not i probably will lose a lot of interest and just play my old consoles.

Consoles will be structured like the Phantom, always online, constant exchange of games through the internet. Microsoft will follow this trend. Sony's new chip will be used to follow this trend, but not as successfully as Microsoft, since Microsoft has used Windows to its advantage.

I sure hope games don't go online like that, I like having the actual disc and booklet and stuff.

I haven't read an instruction manual in a very long time. As for the market in ten years, it'll suck because nothing will be how it was when gaming was at its prime.

Gaming will go downhill like the crash of '83. Yes, more developers will strive for the 'real' look and lose site of what made games great for the past 20 years, gameplay. It's happening already, look at Tao Feng and Brute Force (Not picking on X-box directly, it just happens those perfect examples are both on it), Great graphics, piss poor gameplay. More games will follow this trend as developers try to out do each other and lead to the death of gaming. One company will bring it back as it did in '85, Nintendo. The only major developer that still puts gameplay over graphics.

Hopefully we'll have holodecky things within the next 30 years and then gaming will be a workout for body and mind. But in the next 10 we'll prolly get to PS5, Z-Box, and Game-Tetrahedron.
