This sort of news (http://www.planetgamecube.com/news.cfm?action=item&id=6095) might seem bland to most, but I personally find tech (and business) blurbs from the entertainment software sector to be kind of fun.
SAN FRANCISCO – Game Developers Conference 2005 – March 10, 2005 – An exclusive agreement between Freescale Semiconductor's Metrowerks organization and Xoreax Software promises dramatically faster game development for titles designed to run on popular console gaming platforms from Sony Computer Entertainment and Nintendo.
...
"IncrediBuild's distributed compiling technology increased our compilation productivity by a factor of ten for our PC-based games, and we are thrilled at the prospect of using IncrediBuild technology within the CodeWarrior environment to create games for the 'PlayStation®2' platform," said Clinton Keith, technical director for Darkwatch. "This integration shows that Metrowerks and Xoreax recognize and respond to their customers' needs."
...Okay, maybe not fun per se...
It seems a little late in the life cycle of the consoles to be making development easier... too bad they didn't do this a couple of years ago. Hopefully it will allow a few more titles to get squeezed in at the end before the next-gen stuff hits.
Also, I find it weird that "Metrowerks" and "Xoreax" (can you tell they're tech companies?) have already used this for the PC, but that somehow doesn't translate into XBox functionality... although it's kind of nice to see that a mention of 2 consoles together in a sentence doesn't exclude the Gamecube for once.
