Question For Catholics

So, if the Pope is dead and living it up in God's eternal heavenly palace, why is everyone praying for him?

I mean, it's not like he needs any help getting into heaven - he's the freaking Pope!

This is a serious question though from a non-Catholic.

And we pray that he will find eternal peace and happiness in the Kingdom of God. Not necessarily because he needs it (although he is still a sinner even though he was pope), but mostly I think out of love and respect for him.

The bible clearly states that heaven is a place of happiness and love, so why pray that he FINDS happiness and peace in heaven? Lots of stuff catholics do make no sense...but, not starting a religious debate.

The Catholics believe that people in heaven can do things for them. Like interced on their behalf, mainly the "more spiritual people" like the apostles and the popes and mary the mother of Jesus etc. They also pray for peopel that have died because they believe that they can change the length of time which they must suffer for their sins.. Something along those lines. I have studied some on their beliefs and stuff. I'm Christian myself but Catholics are kinda weird...

i have a question. When I was watching CNN, they talked about how some people wanted a more progressive Pope, and not so much a conservative.

Wouldnt that be changing your religion pretty much if you had a progressive Pope?
