So, if the Pope is dead and living it up in God's eternal heavenly palace, why is everyone praying for him?
I mean, it's not like he needs any help getting into heaven - he's the freaking Pope!
This is a serious question though from a non-Catholic.

Dont worry man he is there. He was a born again believer.
Don't worry about a thing. Cause everything little thing is gonna be alright /bob marley
We pray because we love him.

^Exactly. Of course we all know he's in Heaven right now. We pray for his family and friends, and everyone who was affected by him. And we pray that he will find eternal peace and happiness in the Kingdom of God. Not necessarily because he needs it (although he is still a sinner even though he was pope), but mostly I think out of love and respect for him.

The bible clearly states that heaven is a place of happiness and love, so why pray that he FINDS happiness and peace in heaven? Lots of stuff catholics do make no sense...but, not starting a religious debate.
So you are right...and I am wrong.

The Catholics believe that people in heaven can do things for them. Like interced on their behalf, mainly the "more spiritual people" like the apostles and the popes and mary the mother of Jesus etc. They also pray for peopel that have died because they believe that they can change the length of time which they must suffer for their sins.. Something along those lines. I have studied some on their beliefs and stuff. I'm Christian myself but Catholics are kinda weird...

Hmm...wait, am I supposed to be praying for him? I guess no celebration for the next 9 days either...I'm still going to prom...unless they push it back (which would be good still, for it would give me more time to plan it).

You're misunderstanding me. Like I've said to you before, some people just don't get it. And quite honestly, I'm sick of the nasty remarks from you. If you don't want to start a religious debate as you keep insisting, then just let it go and stop coming up with some rude comment for everything I post.

i have a question. When I was watching CNN, they talked about how some people wanted a more progressive Pope, and not so much a conservative.
Wouldnt that be changing your religion pretty much if you had a progressive Pope?
