I just wanted to let everyone know about two car shows coming soon to Georgia. The first is the Berry College Car Show 2005 (http://fenris.berry.edu/~amargrave/BMWshow). It's going to be held at one of my alma maters, Berry College (just outside of Rome, Georgia), on April 16. The second is the Rock'N & Roll'N Car Show (http://godslight.home.mindspring.com/index.htm), held at Smyrna First United Methodist Church in Smyrna, Georgia (an Atlanta suburb) on April 23.

If you're interested, you can use the links above to find out more information. I'm planning to enter my Volkswagen Golf in both shows.

I might come down to peep your Golf, seeing as I'm like...45 minutes away from Barry.

^ I was hoping you would. I'm excited. My first auto show. Woo! Viper, I will definitely try to remember to take some pics of myself with my car, as well as the best at the shows.

Sorry for the double-post, but I wanted to update everyone on how the car show at Berry College went. It was my first time entering a car in a car show, and I had a lot of fun, even though I didn't win my event. Or even place. I was in with four other cars in the European category: Two classic Triumphs, a classic Bentley and a classic Rolls-Royce. One of the Triumphs left before the judging began, and the other belonged to one of the judges, and was thus inelligible. So it was me and my 2002 Volkswagen Golf against the two British ultra-luxury sedans, in great condition. My car on the other hand was a little dirty inside and out. :) In the end the Rolls finished first and the Bentley second. They only gave awards for first and second in each category, so I walked away with only the memories of my first experience. Still, I had fun.

I put together an online photo album of my day, which you can find here (http://homepage.mac.com/jwsherrod/PhotoAlbum7.html). I think the optimal way to view it would be to click on the "Start Slideshow" button on the upper right. Let me know what you think!

Yesterday my wife and I entered our 2002 Volkswagen Golf in the Rock'N & Roll'N Car Show at Smyrna First United Methodist Church in Smyrna, Georgia (metro Atlanta). It was a benefit show to raise money for the church's youth choir (http://www.godslight.org/). This was a smaller show than the one we attended last weekend at Berry College, but still had some interesting cars. There was a 1957 Rolls-Royce that was literally one-of-a-kind, several Corvettes, and what if I remember correctly was a Ford Model A.

Perhaps the most interesting vehicle competing was a Ford SVT Lightning. The owner had installed scissor doors, an XBox, three monitors, and a custom sound system. There may well have been other mods as well, but the ones listed above were the ones that stood out to me.

There were several categories that winners fell into. My car won the Preacher's Choice award. All of the awards consisted of plaques. Some of the show-goers convinced the pastor that he should give us the award because we were there just for the benefit to the youth choir. While it was certainly true that one of the reasons we attended was to benefit the youth choir (which my wife was formerly a member of), another big factor of my entering was because I love VWs. Also, I just thought it would be fun.

Still, we had a good time overall, and it was certainly fun to win my first award. :aim:-):
