The 2nd Amityville movie was terrible. It actually involved incest. I've never seen any of the others though.

This house is like 10 minutes from mine. I've seen it before, it's fucking huge...very nice. But unfortunately for you horror nuts, this story is fake.
What happened was, there was a family living there, the son got really pissed off one day for whatever reason, and shot and killed his parents and like four or five brothers and sisters.
The next family that owned the house said it was haunted, it became a huge story. There was a book or two and obviously the movies. But the guy later admitted the story was bullshit. He made the whole thing up, probably just to get attention.
Still, the house is fucking gorgeous. I wouldn't mind living there.

As far as the story with the Lutzes (The people who bought the house and portrayed in the film) that whole thing was false. Now the murder that took place in the house is odd though. Ronnie DeFeo, the guy who did it, had no known motives (or at least from my research) to kill his ENTIRE family that night. Qutie odd, but the whole deal with the Lutzes was so fake. They claimed the house was built on an indian burial ground, the Shinecock indians. However, that tribe never lived in that region of the U.S. Not only that, there were allegedly some violent occurances with the supernatural in the house, and as any ghost buff knows, violent entities are very very rare. The events described in the film were too over the top to be believable.
But hey, its just a movie. If you like ghost stuff, check it out. The soundtrack to the original version was originaly supposed to go with The Exorcist, but was dropped during editing.
Based on a fake but true story, kidn of like Texas Chainsaw Massacre was.
Might watch this today, or not.
yeah Texas Chainsaw Massacre inspired by the life of Ed Gein...ive heard good reviews of this film

This film was pretty good. Too many of the scenes were far to predictanble, but it's still pretty damn intresting. Not as scary as the grudge or the ring or so, but quite a few nice surprises.

Well it was the number one movie in America this week I think. I still haven't seen it yet. I'll get around to it eventually.
If I get a chance, I'll stop by the real house sometime and take a couple of pictures to post. Probably won't happen till the end of May after finals are over though.

I was going to see it last night but decided to do other things...but a couple of my friends saw it and said it was scary! Alot more scary than that bullshit movie Ring 2.
