A lot of people will probably just say Spielburg and Lucas and their ilk without giving too much thought. Let's have some intelligent answers kids.

Oh, and give examples of their work too.

Mine goes to David Fincher. For those who don't know his name, he is the man who directed Fight Club, Panic Room and Alien 3.

His direction in Fight Club was flawless. Every movement in that film worked perfectly, and helped to realise Chuck Palahniuk's groundbreaking novel to perfection, which, for those of you who haven't read the book, would have been one hell of a task.

Yours?

As far as modern directors go, I don't have a favorite, really, but I have several that I admire and will watch just because I like their style or their art. I'll list my favorites and some of my favorite movies by them. I'll try and keep it recent.

Scorsese (Gangs of New York, Goodfellas, Bringing out the Dead)
Michael Mann (Collateral, Heat, The Insider)
P.T. Anderson (Boogie Nights, Magnolia)
Alexander Payne (Sideways, Election)
Clint Eastwood (Unforgiven, Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby)
Oliver Stone (JFK, Nixon, Natural Born Killers)
Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill)
Ridley Scott (Black Hawk Down, Matchstick Men)
