View Full Version : I've got the goods on Revolution. Again.

The following are online entries from a former Nintendo employee, who now works in a company that is developing for the Revolution.
It's a long read, but well worth the effort. I nearly ruined a good pair of pants.

Here you go:
Brooke got some things right, but much of it is flawed. I don’t know whether he just made up a lot of that stuff, because many of the points have been disproven before. For instance, Game Informer wrote an article on the next generation consoles in which it claims the Revolution’s controller will have one giant touch screen. I’m thinking this is where Brooke got that idea. The Revolution will not have a touch screen. Iwata has stated this before. The controller will be quite normal in the sense that it will have a d-pad and buttons. Like I said, I’m not going to tell you the revolutionary aspect of the system. Nintendo has some cool pre E3 plans for that.
First off, the 3D visuals he mentioned have nothing to do with the system. Nintendo isn’t crazy.
It will also have gyroscopic controls, but like Brooke said, not all the games will use it. For instance, earlier I mentioned Nintendo has a Halo killer in development for the Revolution. This game will use the gyroscopic controls for aiming as wel as other things. Our game isn’t using this function.
The controller will be wireless; he’s right about that. As you also know, the Xbox 360’s controllers will be wireless as well. Where do you think they got this idea? That’s why Nintendo is still trying to determine what to show at E3. From what I’ve heard, they will show the design of the system as well as games. I’ll tell you about the software later though.
The controller will also be pressure sensitive. The pressure you put into it will determine certain things, such as movement. This is another optional capibility. Someone on Nintendo’s board mentioned this months ago. They said that “touching is good, but feeling is better.” This may sound strange, but it provides great controls. Racing games will really be helped by this control setting.
The Nintendo Revolution will also include voice control more advanced than anything seen so far. Nintendogs is just the beginning. To achieve this, Nintendo sent us headsets (similar to ones you can use for Xbox Live) that are wirelessless communicating with the console. Imagine being able to merely call for an airstrike or reload your gun by giving out commands orally. So far, we have put this feature to the test the most; as you can see, I’m excited over this feature.
From a graphical perspective, the Nintendo Revolution is very powerful. Many people seem to think this won’t be the case, but rest assured. The games I saw while working at Nintendo were very beautiful. I’ll tell you about those later.
As Nintendo has stated before, the system will be online. In my eyes, the online system they have set up is the most revolutionary part of the system. While Sony and Microsoft are busy turning their systems into trojan horses for their other electronic devices, Nintendo is going to use the Revolution for direct communication with gamers. The only way I can describe it is as an internet service. Imagine turning it on and checking your mail on the system. You see previews and demos of DS and Revolution games that you can download. A magazine similar to Nintendo Power will be exclusive to the system, and you will be able to access it on the Revolution’s homepage. As you check you mail, you will also see various invitations from gamers on your buddy list who want to play you. There are so many other ways this is going to be used. Once the Revolution comes out, there will be no reason to hang out on message boards. Message boards as well as chat rooms will be available on the Revolution so that gamers can discuss and challenge each other all day. And the best thing is that the entire thing is totally free and easy to use. Why play Madden on Xbox Live when you’ll be able to play it for free on the Revolution with much better services?
That’s all I’m going to reveal for now. There are some very interesting games in the horizon for the Revolution; I’ll talk about them later.

Like Brooke said, console ideas are nothing without good games. Once you see the games, you will understand. I would go as far to say that the Revolution isn’t as revolutionary as Nintendo is saying. It should be called the Nintendo Simplicity, because every aspect I mentioned greatly simplifies the gaming experience. For instance, the pressure sensitive grips on the controller make racing games much easier to control and play. Wave Race (yes, it will be at E3) is going to be very impressive because it will use this function. It will be sort of like controlling a game with one of those stress balls. You squeeze it and you go faster. It’s hard to explain though.
Don’t expect to see too much if any of the controller at E3 though. Nintendo is still trying to decide what to show and what not to show. The games will be revealed, as well as specs and the system design. But the controller is still being considered.
To Jesus: when you see the voice controls, you will be blown away. Go back and watch some sci fi movies with voice controlled vehicles (such as AI or I am Robot).

You guys are still talking about the 3D angle of that article? Check the date of the patent in question. This has already been used in a game that’s out right now. I would suggest you pay attention to IGN or N-Sider more.
Like I said, I’m going to give out some details on the next gen hardware, especially the Nintendo Revolution. You guys already know a lot of information on the Xbox 360; you guys have already seen the specs of the system. Gamespy released them around GDC. I was at GDC, and I’ll fill you in on some stuff that IGN can’t talk about. Specs and details on the Nintendo Revolution were given out to developers during the conference. I can verify that my company as well as EA and Midway received them at GDC. I’m positive other publishers received them as well.
From what I’ve heard, Capcom and Namco are sold on the Revolution and are currently playing around with the development kits. I don’t know whether they are actually making games for it though. I was suprised to hear that Square Soft has a game in development for the Revolution. It will be at E3 as well as some other next gen titles for the PS3.
I’m currently working on a game for the Revolution as well. I can’t guarantee that it will be at E3 though. I think people are going to be very suprised. When I worked with Nintendo, I was able to see the earliest builds of the system. It has come a long way, to say the least. There are a lot of graphics whores out there who feel the Revolution will be a weak system. They will be very suprised come E3. Microsoft is banking on stealing the show, but I think they will be upstaged by Nintendo as well as Sony. It’s going to be very funny to see them trying to get people excited about Perfect Dark 0 when both Nintendo and Sony will be showing off Halo killers.
# Aries Says:

I’m not going to share specs with you because they aren’t really that important. I think Iwata said something like that when asked the same question. All three consoles are going to be very powerful, trust me. I’ll give you some information though: it will be more powerful than the Xbox 360. Much more powerful. Many gamers seem to think it will be as powerful as the GBA or something. That isn’t the case at all. From what I saw during my time their as well as our game, it will be very capible.
But having the most powerful console doesn’t guarantee that gamers are going to buy it. Software sells the games. And if that statement holds true next generation, the Nintendo Revolution will be very popular.
In my next post I will “spill the beans” on everything I know about the Revolution. I’ll give you some hints though. All the rumors out there are not mere rumors. Some are planted by people who are working on the consoles. In fact, Nintendo is doing this right now with the information they’ve released on the Revolution. You are going to see why Nintendo hasn’t just come out and said confirmed that the Revolution is going to be very powerful. You’re going to be punk’d by them in a couple weeks. Pay attention to the boards, especially Nintendo’s board. It’s much better than OurColony.

Silicon
Knights is not developing for the Nintendo Revolution right now. They
will show off some Xbox 360 games at E3; I can confirm that. Matt saw
the game, and he knows what they are up to. Once he is able to talk
about it, he will reveal his information to you.
Like I said, I
know as much about Resident Evil 5 as you do. I would guess it is going
to be a current generation game. If Capcom could have it ready for the
holidays (to combat the Xbox 360), it would come out then. But that’s
just my own speculation (and hope; RE4 is amazing).
I can
confirm that Nintendo is currently working on many Revolution titles.
Most are just in the planning stages, but I have seen video of seven.
I’m sure at least three or four of these games will be at E3 in video
form. Perhaps more; we will see at E3. Outside of our game, there are
six 3rd party games that I have heard of. As I mentioned earlier,
Square Enix (happy now?) is developing a new game for the Revolution.
EA, Sega, Zoonami, Namco, and Activision are currently working on games.
3rd party information:
EA
is playing around with the Revolution’s capibilities, implementing them
into another Madden game. This isn’t really news though. From what I’ve
heard, they are really going out of their way to make this more than
just a port. Voice controls are being used to the max in this title.
Calling out audibles will be used this way. The wireless capibilities
of the system are also going to be used. Like I said, there will be no
reason to buy Madden for the Xbox 360 when the Revolution version comes
out.
Sega is developing three games for the Revolution that
should be at E3. I’m not going to reveal too much on what they are up
to for obvious reasons. The three games I listed does not include the
game we are developing for them. You will be very suprised at what they
are doing. I’m sure you have heard of the Xbox 360 title Condemned that
they are working on. This game is something that many wouldn’t expect
Sega to make; you won’t expect what you will see at E3. The other game
they have is a typical, quirky Sega game. It’s very interesting in the
sense that it uses all the system’s capibilities.
Zoonami has
already given out some hints on what they are working on. I have always
felt that Sam Fisher is a much better character than Solid Snake.
Zoonami just might have some characters that are better than both of
them.
Namco is working on a Revolution game, but I don’t have
details on it. I am sure that it is not a Soul Caliber III port. I
don’t see why they just won’t add online play and Link and Ganon to the
game and release it as a launch title. That would be a very smart move.
Activision
is working on some ports for the Revolution. You will see what they
have for the Xbox 360 at E3. At least one of these games will be ported
to the Revolution for its launch.
On 1st party information:
Like
I said, I have seen seven Nintendo titles, some of which will be at E3.
When the DS was launced, it had one sub par 1st party game. This will
not be the case with the Revolution’s launch. If they were to release
all the games I’ve seen at launch, it would easily be the best launch
ever for a console.
I can confirm that Nintendo is working on a
new, orignal Mario game. In my opinion, the last few Miyamoto games
havn’t been that interesting. This will change with this game. Like
Mario 64 for the N64, this game will introduce all of the capibilities
of the console. It will use the pressure sensitive controls mainly, but
the voice controls as well as gyroscopic controls will be used as well.
From what I saw, this game will use mini games to introduce many of
these schemes. All of these mini games could be released as stand alone
games.
A new Super Smash Bros. Melee is in the works as well.
This game will demonstrate the online functions of the Revolution.
Nintendo has added many new things into the game, included a deeper
combat system. Many more special moves are included as well as some
very cool suprises. The levels will include some destructible
environments, and the characters will be fully customizable. Want to
play as Mario in his 80’s outfit? Or would you prefer the 90’s look?
It’s your choice. The most innovative part of the game is the different
modes. In previous games, you were allowed to play in giant mode, metal
mode, small mode, etc. That has changed. You will be able to choose to
play in a “Paper” mode (a la Paper Mario), a cel shaded mode (Wind
Waker), or Viewtiful Joe-esque mode.
As I said earlier, Retro is working on a Halo killer. This game is going to be one of the best games at E3. In my opinion, StarCraft was the best RTS ever. This game is going to use some similar ideas. In most FPS, you play as a hero trying to save the day. In Retro’s game, they allow you to choose which storyline you want to play, just like StarCraft allows you to play as Terran, Zerg, etc. Biological weapons will play a major part in the game. Imagine fighting in a chemical plant, where toxics are stored everywhere. By shooting them, you emit the toxic. If you get hit by this stuff, many different things may happen. For instance, you may lose sight on the screen, your controls might be inverted or slowed down, etc. Or, if your character gets the fever, the controller might get hot. Very hot. The alien races are very interesting also. You will be able to switch to 3rd person in order to move faster (similar to running in Odd World: Stranger’s Wrath). You will be able to “impregnate” human players by grabbing on to them for a certain amount of time. This will implant a NPC in them, which will burst out at your command, instantly killing the human player. You will then be able to use voice control to command the NPC.

HOLY HELL!
That was a GREAT read.
omg ... omg ... omg.
If that stuff is true, than I am going to cry (joyful tears).
Awesome details man. That Online Nintendo plan sounded great. Nintendo Power online? I mean, thats just a badass idea. I would love that. How convenient would that be?
The controller sounds very instant. Good thing its not a touch screen though. But I like the idea of pressure-sensitive controllers and the voice feature.
And SMASH BROS. YESS! That sounded great. A paper, cel-shaded and viewtiful joe type mode? HELL YEA.
Once again, if this is true, than I'm DEFINITELY buying a Revolution.
It all comes down to launch titles. I'm in the middle right now. Eithier a XBOX 360 or Revolution.
Reps man, good find.

I haven’t heard anything about a new Nights game, which is sad; Nights was a brilliant game. I have heard talk of a new Virtual Fighter though. Just talk though.
Vectorman isn’t coming out for the PS2. Sega was going to bring it to the current consoles, but the plan was scrapped. And no I don’t work for Pseudo Interactive. Or Silicon Knights. Funny you bring them up though. They will have one of the best games at E3. Outside of Zelda, Nintendo’s FPS (developed by Retro), and PD0, it will be the one of the best showings of E3.
I don’t have details on what game Squaresoft is working on. I know that it will be at E3 along with Final Fantasy 3 and FF:CC for the DS.
I’m not going to give out the secret. It’s going to be very fun; wait until E3. Nintendo is going to roll out a trojan horse: something that looks innocent and weak and them bam, it will be unveiled. Just don’t make up your mind on the first day of E3.
There is not a Sonic game in development for the Revolution. It is an exclusive Gamecube game. This one is totally seperate from Shadow the Hedgehog, which will be multi console (and should hit the PSP as well).
That’s all for today. I will be back. Hopefully Brooke will update his site by then. I want to hear more of what he allegedly knows.
--
Like Reggie said, Nintendo is changing. They aren’t going to sit around and let Sony and Microsoft steal all of their marketshare. I think they are going to do very well next generation. But it won’t be a cake walk or anything. I still think the PS3 is going to win the next generation. It is alot closer to completion than many think, and at E3 they will show off some amazing stuff as well.
I will tell you guys about the other four titles later. Zelda is not one of them, although I have seen some preliminary designs for the new one. Go look at the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion pics, and then put Link into those environments. A beautiful sight indeed.
The information keeps coming!!!

That online plan sounds pure genious. I mean ... having demos and previews everyday when you log onto the Revolution, it will truley become your one-stop source for all Nintendo.

There are several reasons why I believe most [leaning towards all] of this to be false.
Here's one:
EA is playing around with the Revolution’s capibilities, implementing them into another Madden game. This isn’t really news though. From what I’ve heard, they are really going out of their way to make this more than just a port. This is Electronic Arts he's talking about, right?

Nintendo just needs a good launch this time around and they'll probably be able to seal the second, or even possibly the first, spot.

Being a FE fan of old, its very unlikely they will push Eliwood ( Id be shocked if they even dapled with some old school FE chars or even Hector)since he is by far more unknown compared to Roy who has acquired much more fame in Japan ( Fire Emblem 6 Sword of Seals only debuted in JAP) and I personally put all other characters to shame with Roy,Marth, and Fox if the other 2 are taken.
Character to pwn all = Marth/Roy
Stage of Prefered = Hyrule Castle/Final Destination

They never take characters, they only add. Yes but Americans would be much more familiar with Eliwood, plus he looks like Roy in almost every way except for the fact that he would use Durandal instead of Sword of Seals. That's why I think they might replace Roy. Eliwood would still have the same moveset as his son.

If this portion alone is true, I'm dropping any cares for the Xbox 360.
if what this guy says is true, i think it's safe to say the the XBox 360 will crash and burn. or be in last place, at least.

i just don't get what gives this guy the right to spill the beans when so many others can't such as IGN.
what gives him the right is that no one knows who he really is. even if nintendo found out someone was posting this, they wouldn't know which developer was leaking it, and they might even be glad he's not giving away the 'revolutionary' feature.

And outlaw, why have a hard drive? Memory cards work just as well. And I think Nintendo knows that if they dont include a hard drive then their mem card is going to have to be really good. Besides, hard drive is too expensive for me.
Some of you folks are getting some pretty high hopes that the 360 will die. I wouldn't count on that. Not only because of the fact that the Xbox has such a strong userbase because of its target audience (What celebrity/adult male doesn't have one?), but because it's launching this year.

The reason why I'm so excited is because, unlike other rumours and speculation, this seems like something Nintendo could do!
It sounds realistic, and that developer was explaining this in such a way that it's hard not to belive he knows what he's talking about.
I don't think Nintendo would go with a built in harddrive though, MS learned the hard way that a built in harddrive wasn't such a smart move, you Xbox people can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think MS went with the possibility to switch your harddrive on the Xbox360 without the need to send in your whole system to them. If Nintendo will go with a harddrive it should be one you can hock up and from your system, not built into.
And yeah, the revolution won't kill the Xbox360 or PS3, but it may regain the top spot in sales and marked share.
I wouldn't even count on that.

"If you like these ideas and if you believe that they
will be helpful for SSBM please use it:
1) same 2d style, but cel-shaded (such as viewtiful

2) Each character has his/her own adventure mode,

more advance, it will be longer and after you finish
your world you move onto the next world (of a

3) There should be a main story (evil in the world,
you choose a hero (not baddy) and u go through
different worlds with the help of the hero of that

4) New bosses and worlds will be created
5) Each character gets a huge library of movies and
has the ability to custom which moves he/she wants.
Obvioulsy each different attack(up a,etc.) will have
its own roster of moves. If you like it can be that
you can put whatever move you want on which ever kind
of attack, BUT B ATTACKS CAN NOT BE USED TO SUBSTITUTE
THE A ATTACKS.
6) deffinitly online
7) more character (Obvious) + create totally new
characters
8) Viewtiful Joe should be added (but since it is
coming on the ps2, i don't think that he will be
added)
Please if it is possible, e-mail me back with an

Anyway, that guy keeps posting info it seems like and here is another intresting piece:
With respects to the Mario game, it is not Mario 128. Mario 128 is a Gamecube game, and it should be shown at E3 this year. The Mario game for the Revolution is still in development, and right now Miyamoto is just using it as a tech demo so to speak. There is a story and everything, but the game is far from finished. I think everyone will be very impressed by it.We'll be getting our Mario 128 on the GC!!
However, this probably means the Mario game on the revolution won't be a launch title...
Nintendo already confirmed Mario 128 would be on Gamecube.
I don't really care if Mario isn't at launch for Revolution ... but for the sake of god ... NO LUIGI's MANSION 2. Or Nintendo is doomed.

More on the games:
As I mentioned many times, a new Wave Race is in development, and it should be at E3. Many people wrote off the Gamecube as a weak, baby console, but the Wave Race game on it proves that it is very capible. The water effects in that game are amazing; they still look very good today. With the new Zelda and the water in it, Nintendo is again showing how good they are at what they do. But I think this Wave Race is going to top everything out there in respects to graphics. It is going to be the GT of water racing games. You will be able to around in many different levels, all of which will sport many obstacles for the player. For instance, one early design I saw had a racer avoiding enormous cruise ships, which could destroy your speeder if you got too close to it.
One of the more interesting games I saw was a totally new IP. Outside of Geist, Nintendo has never really worked on a “mature” game. This all is going to change. They are working on a 3rd person action game that is very, very interesting. When Ninja Gaiden came out, I remember hearing that Aonuma was really into the game. I found this very interesting, but I didn’t take much interest into the story. Later, one of my co-workers showed me what he was working on. Nintendo, along with Hideo Kojima, are working on a futuristic action game. There is a reason why Kojima isn’t directing the next Metal Gear game. He’s been working with Nintendo on this game. In many ways, it reminded me of a apocolyptic, futuristic version of Zelda and Ninja Gaiden mixed. The earliest ideas I heard involved a cult of humans (humans are near extinction) who are menacing a cybernetic country. In the game, humans were almost wiped out by a race of higher beings, who then created cybernetic humans to take their place as rulers of the planet (not earth). The main character is one of the synthetic robots. Very, very interesting. I only got to see this one time, and I pray it will be at E3.
More later. I haven’t been getting the amount of sleep I thought I would during my break. I will talk about a couple more games later. I’ll also clear up some rumors floating around about Camelot and what they’re up to.I hope I won't be posting anything of those trying to impersonate him, but I'm good at filthrating peronalities and I'm sure this piece is from him as well (besides, I doubt a faker would bother to type so much).

After E3 I’m sure many people will dust off their DS’ and start getting excited. Like I said, Metroid Hunters and Mario Kart are very good games. NST gave people a mere glimpse into what they are doing with the Hunters demo. The final version will be very different and much better
As you know, Nintendo will release details on the online plans for the system. That will be very interesting.
Nintendo has three Mario games in development. One for the Gamecube, one for the Revolution, and one for the DS. Like I stated earlier, Mario 128 will be a Gamecube title. The Revolution game is early in development, but it will be shown at E3 in video form. Once Mario 128 is completed, I’m sure Miyamoto will go back to work on the Revolution followup.
Retro isn’t working on a new Metroid. The game I mentioned earlier will be their first Revolution title. They are also working on a DS game.
I can’t comment on the disk format, because that would give away far too much. All I’m going to say is that the disk format will play an interesting role in the “revolutionary” aspect of the console. The battery issue is also involved with this part of the console, so I won’t comment on that either. Some DS love as well. :)
The disk format and the wireless controll battery is secret and related to the revolutionary part of the console? I'm intrested - Totally!
Camelot is not working on a new Golden Sun game. They are not woring on the DS either. Before I left Nintendo, they began working on the Revolution. They are working on creating a new RPG to combat Final Fantasy, which is strange. Square Enix is working on an RPG for the Revolution’s launch, so I don’t think Camelot’s game will be a launch title. If Square Enix leaves Sony (which is not a big if), they could possibly rejoin with Nintendo. Or they could wind up with Microsoft, but I doubt that.We knew about this RPG, but I really wish they would make another Golden Sun as well. :(
That part about Square-Enix leaving Sony is a big Yay from me though. :D

2 lasers rotating? Wouldn't it be easier just to spin the disc?Read for yourself.
hmmm I feel special cause your asking me a question now. haha
No but in all seriousness I read about this new disk stuff online somewhere. I dont have an exact source. But I know for a fact that I read that new disk drives comming out in the future would be able to read double sided disks and instead of having a disk spinnning while being read by the lens, companies were making it so that the lens would rotate around the disk. This would help bring disk reading speeds higher. This is because at a certain speed while the disk is rotating, it can start to damage itself due to the speed. Im not sure if what im saying is totally correct but it’s the basic concept about what I read.
And the reason im thinking that NIntendo maybe using this concept is because it’s planning to use dual sided disks for the Rev and for that to work, they would need a drive that would be able to read top and bottom at the same time…. this would need the machine to have two seperate lenses reading the information from top and bottom but at the same time the lens would rotate around the disk as both lenses would be reading two seperate pieces of information of the disk. Hence the disk does not move at all.
Sounds kinda crazy but I really have a feeling that this theory is sound.
Anyways what do you think? Is it possible for you to help me know if im correct on this or not? cuase i have a feeling im kinda close to what they’re doing which is why you cant really say anything but you havent really said that my theory earlier was wrong either so im thinking…

I’m not going to tell you what I do. I’ve given enough information about myself. I don’t plan on staying with this developer for long, to tell the truth.
I left Nintendo in 2004, but I never heard anything about a concrete launch date. From what I’m hearing now, Nintendo is watching Sony very closely. The Revolution will come out before the PS3, but I don’t know exactly when thay will happen. I am pretty sure that they will battle it out during the 2006 holiday season. That would give developers (including us) more than enough time. I can confirm that they will not be released before E3 of 2006. The Revolution won’t be on the E3 floor this year.
The portable Gamecube rumors are not credible at all. There is no “Gameboy Evolution”. I’m sure Nintendo has some plans for a new Gameboy, but it won’t be out any time soon.

I'm positive this one is the true Aries:
The next generation battle is going to be very intense. All three companies are pulling out all the stops in order to come out on top. I think the PS3 is going to win the battle though. It is always hard to bet against them. From what I’ve heard, the PS3 is alot closer to completion than many think. I have also heard that it is rather hard to develop for in many ways. Although Sony isn’t forcing developers to implement certain components into their games (like Microsoft is), the system development process has a long learning curve. In the end, I don’t think this is going to stop larger publishers like EA and Square Enix from making games for them. Obviously, I don’t have too many concrete details on the system. I do know that it is a very powerful system; it will be more powerful than the other two.
Nintendo is really doing something special with the Revolution. This is a system that will appeal to all gamers, and developers will find it pretty easy to work on. I think it is going to be very successful, especially in Japan. The Gamecube has been a failure over seas. The Revolution should do much better, mainly due to the fact that it will correct many of the mistakes made this generation. There will not be a sub par Luigi game at launch. The system isn’t going to resemble a purple lunch box either. But in my mind 3rd party suport was the biggest reason the Gamecube failed. I don’t see any reason why developers would shun the Revolution. If it is able to sell, it will be supported. Like I said earlier, it will have the greatest launch titles ever seen on a console.I don’t know anything about Earthbound. Many people are hoping for another game in this series. The same can be said of Kid Icarus. There is a lot of mystery surrounded both series. But, I have no information that would make me think that sequels are in development.
Anyone: When I first joined the studio I currently work at, we had just begun developing for the Nintendo Revolution. We recieved development kits early, but it took Nintendo a while to get us the controller details. That’s why I doubt it will be shown at E3. They have been trying to keep it under wraps for a long time now. It did not have different capabilities previous to the ones it has now. Like I said, it has gyroscopic and pressure sensitve controls. It never had touch screen controls; Game Informer wrote a very misleading artile on this aspect of the system. I will once again verify that the controller will be wireless. Microsoft stole this idea from Nintendo.
Like I said earlier, Nintendo is watching Sony very closely. They do not think that the Xbox 360 is going to be a competitor next generation. As many of you have probally heard, Microsoft is going to launch the Xbox 360 in November. Nintendo has plans on releasing the new Zelda game on whatever date Microsoft chooses. I have also heard rumors that Sony is planning on doing something similar. Apparantly, they are going to release Final Fantasy 12 in Japan to combat the Xbox 360 launch. I actually think there is some truth behind this rumor, but I could be wrong. I think Nintendo is making a mistake by not taking the Xbox 360 seriously.

Heh, seems like half the board is viewing this topic.
I'm very very very optomistic after reading the flurry of posts by this guy, and it sounds much more believable than Brooke Burgess. (that his name?) But I'm also a little discouraged that no one will be able to get a hands-on experience with it at E3.
I just wish they'd do like they did when they revealed the DS, having the system on display with various tech demos, but no actual games. Just so we can get a feel of the new controller, y'know?
Granted, I can understand their paranoia. If I were a high-rank Microsoft employee, and was pit before this type of competition, I'd definately steal some of the ideas in order to keep my job.
The Gamecube purple lunchbox look was a huge turnoff, I know that for a fact. So many people didn't buy it simply cus it was purple (casual retard gamers, that is).

Well most of what was said is possible and not too far fetched, it does sounds pretty big though since no one has tried it before but it is achievable. Personally, I don't give a rat’s ass about all the bickering that was going on in their about who's right, who's lying, who's impersonating who. What was written is an example of the kind of thing that is very possible. There is a chance of it seeing as the next generation will greatly surpass this generation in terms of innovation if the cards are played right. At this point, E3 is where we are all looking towards for our answers and maybe a little bit of the truth of what's really going on.

This guy may be from Sony trying to dissapoint you so you can buy their system. That's another thing why I belive him, no Sony or Xbox fanboy could possibly have that much knowledge about Nintendos personality and thinking to make something this beliveable, heck not many N-fans even could, and a sane NIntendo fan would usually not mock their own breed.
Not to mention that not everything he said was positive, he mentioned things some N-fans would find disapointing as well, like that stuff with Earthbound...
The truth is often harder to belive than a lie, but I suggest we all wait until E3 as you said Bloodman.
But I do keep one thing in mind from what Aries said, and I suggest everyone else do that as well, don't belive everything you see and hear from media and Nintendo the comming weeks and first days of E3, they may try to mess with us all before they reveal the Revolution.

I will now provide proof that what this Aeries guy is saying is a fake, he told very good lies and left no trails behind him except 1, and that is square-enix, he says in one of his first posts:
[I don’t have details on what game Squaresoft is working on. I know that it will be at E3 along with Final Fantasy 3 and FF:CC for the DS.]
and then he says later on,
[Camelot is not working on a new Golden Sun game. They are not woring on the DS either. Before I left Nintendo, they began working on the Revolution. They are working on creating a new RPG to combat Final Fantasy, which is strange. Square Enix is working on an RPG for the Revolution’s launch, so I don’t think Camelot’s game will be a launch title.].
He obviously forgot that he said he didn't know what square-enix was working on for the revolution, then he later on says that they are working on an rpg. But i thought he didn't know what they were working on???
And plus one thing he forgets to say is which studio he works for, which makes me belief there is no studio.

Bloodman, I updated my post, that riddle was posted by an imposter, sorry, my mistake.
He obviously forgot that he said he didn't know what square-enix was working on for the revolution, then he later on says that they are working on an rpg. But i thought he didn't know what they were working on??? Well, if he know Square-Enix is making a game for the revolution like he obviously do in the first statement, then it's not so strange that he could know the genre of the game as well. Knowing the genre of a game doesn't mean he knows what kind of game they really are making though, like if it's going to be a new FF game, Tactics game, CC game or something else.
And plus one thing he forgets to say is which studio he works for, which makes me belief there is no studio. He repeated that several times in the blog, a reason that are quite obvious too, he won't be revealing informative pieces that would make it possible to track his identity - it could cost him his job!

http://forums.warppipe.com/viewtopic.php?t=17803&highlight=revolutionIt was that post I was reffering to where an imposter pretended Aries admited fakenes...
The real Aries kept posting a little while after that and was still insisting he was not lying.
In fact, he have started posting again today, yay!
I didn’t know a new PunchOut was in development. Are you sure? If they just filed a patent for it, I have no concrete information on the game. I would be willing to bet that it will be a Gamecube game though. Nintendo has done a bad job of releasing software for the Gamecube throughout the year, but the holiday lineup should be very impressive. Zelda alone justifies the purchase of one.
I have met Miyamoto a few times as well. As I’m sure you know, he doesn’t work in Washington; he’s busy at EAD. I have never seen Miyamoto smoke, but obviously I don’t know him personally. I don’t see how me knowing that detail would prove/disprove my credibility.
You already know what the Xbpx 360 development kit looks like.
Microsoft isn’t going to “buy” Nintendo anytime soon. There is a huge misconception about Nintendo’s financial standings. Despite the Gamecube’s poor preformance, Nintendo has never had a problem posting a quarterly profit. On the other hand, Microsoft has only posted one quarterly profit off the Xbox. They are losing hundreds of dollars for every Xbox sold. That isn’t new information.
All I know about Square Enix’s project is that it will be an RPG. I have no other details on it.
I do not work for Silicon Knights, and I am not female. I don’t know how those misconceptions came about. That was his first post for today as a clear proof that "his" post yesterday about admitting he was fake was from an imposter.
And Fishbone, he explains in this post that he knows the genre of the Square-Enix game, but not anything else - backing up my claim that he did not really blow it.
Ok, here is another one:
superdouche: I have answered that question many times. By signing up for a message board, I would risk being exposed. I am not going to share any personal information on a message board. It’s quite easy to tell when someone is impersonating me.
N-Zero: The controller will have a similar design to the Gamecube one, but there will be more functions. The pressure sensitive controls are located on the each of the controller’s handles (right under the L and R shoulder buttons). The buttons, analog stick, and c-stick will be mapped on the front of the controller, similar to the way it is found on the Gamecube controller. The gyroscopic functionality will be located where the wire is on the Gamecube’s controller. There is another function on the controller, but I am not going to reveal it. I have given my reason for this before.
Cool Guy: I left Nintendo for personal issues. I didn’t expect to work in the gaming business again, but my current employer convinced me otherwiese. The gaming industry is a very exciting world, but most people cannot imagine the level of work and hours that is put into it. I am on break this week, but on Monday I’ll be going back. We are trying to gear up for E3.
I’m sure many gaming journalists would even tell you that covering E3 isn’t as fun as many believe it to be. There is a lot of work and running around to do.Great to know, the Revolution controller will be like a Gamecube controller with more input features, just like I suspected it would be. :)
That would mean there would be no need to use GC controllers to play GC games on the Revolution. - And if you think about it, that makes sense, personally I don't think the idea of hocking up a GC controller to make use of the backwards compatibility would have worked in practice for several reasons.

It means he has neither been proven or admited to be fake yet, there could always be a chance he is fake still though - but belive what you want, we will know for sure after E3.
Paladin: It won’t use AAA batteries. Like I said yesterday, I will not reveal any information on the battery or disk format because they both play a role in the “revolutionary” aspect of the system.
Once again, I’d like to apologize to Brooke for the hectic traffic and spamming his site has been receiving this week. I didn’t expect so many spammers and hackers to pay attention to this.
Moz: You are very correct. This is always an exciting time for gamers, but journalists and developers are the ones who work hard to make it exciting. Last year everyone was blown away by the new Zelda, Splinter Cell, and Resident Evil 4. The DS and PSP were also impressive. This year is going to be even better. All three systems will be revealed (in one way or another), and some great games are going to keep everyone busy. I can’t wait to see what some of my favorite developers are working on. Perfect Dark 0 is going to be very interesting, and I can’t wait to play around with Final Fantasy 12. But, like I said earlier, Nintendo is going to steal the show. The Revolution isn’t the only show stopper they have up their sleeves.Like I said earlier, I have not posted any specs. They are not that important.
Paladin: I don’t really find the “revolutionary” part of the system to be that innovative. It makes games easier to play, but all the Revolution’s functions do that. I really think Nintendo throws around the words “revolutionary” and “innovation” too much. A perfect example would be Mario 128. It is basically just a better version of Mario 64, and Miyamoto added some interesting camera schemes as well as some other cool funtions. That’s it, unless they totally revamped the game after I left. It will be an amazing game, but I don’t see any developer’s “stealing” the ideas. With the Revolution, other companies might take some of Nintendo’s ideas; Microsoft has already done this.As long as we get a decent Mario platformer I will be in heaven, I want to feel like I'm playing a real Mario platformer not some random ultimate washing adventure!

Bloodman: We do not have actual Revolution consoles; we have development kits. When I worked at Nintendo, I never heard anything about USB ports. The early designs of the system did noy have them either.
That’s all the information I’ll give for now. I won’t be back today until Brooke’s next article is posted on IGN. If it isn’t posted, I’ll just come back after the Nintendo Minute is posted later today. Talk to you soon.

Perhaps they meant it in some other way, that it would not be any DS\Revolution connection the same way it's between GBA and GC. - If I could see the exact quote I could see what they really ment.
Here is more from Aries:
Lostlegend: One word to describe the “revolutionary” aspect of the system? I already have used the word “simple” to describe it, so I’ll use another one. Evolution. And I am not using the word in the sense that games will be able to grow or anything like that, as SnsoryOverload suggested. I am using it in the sense that the Revolution will use a function that is just the logical evolution of interactive media. When you see it you will understand what I mean. It isn’t going to be anything totally alien to the average person.Intresting, perhaps he means the Revolution will make use of what is considered to be the next evolution in interactive media, Artificial Intelligence, will we be able to talk to our system? Like tell it to reset and so on?
*touches Shade*Wheeeee. :D
Anyway, here's more quotes:
OJ: A couple months ago, Microsoft announced a deal with Mistwalker that will have the developer make two Xbox 360 games in the future. Look for Nintendo to announce some similar deals in the future. Gamespy mentioned awhile ago that some interesting partnerships are going to be announced at E3. Wait and see.
Word Assassin: I agree with you. I was disappointed with Super Mario Sunshine, mainly because Nintendo hasn’t made a “real” Mario game in so long. I think Mario 128 is going to please a lot of people. As you already know, the game has been in development for a very long time. It could have been shown at E3 2004 in video form like the Zelda game, but Nintendo chose not to. I really don’t understand that. I think Miyamoto has hyped this game too much. Developers are not going to steal anything from this. In my opinion, Mario 128 will be a great game; it will include many older features that were not in Mario 64. But, like I said, it isn’t going to be the “innovative” work of genius some think it will be.Lostlegend: As Reggie has said before, Nintendo will be creating some new IP’s for the Revolution. For instance, Camelot’s new game will be totally original; it will not be another Golden Sun. Retro is also working on a new game. These are smart moves in my opinion. Outside of Pikmin, there weren’t any new gaming series introduced on the Gamecube. I was really disappointed in this. For instance, I’m sure you all are familiar with the whole Star Fox Adventures fiasco. It was originally supposed to be a new, original game, but Nintendo pressured Rare to turn it into a Star Fox game. The end result was not really imressive.Dam0: The wireless controller function was stolen from Nintendo; believe me on that. There is a reason why Nintendo rarely makes positive statements avout Microsoft. They don’t even think the Xbox 360 will be competitive.
Terrin: From what I heard while working at Nintendo, the next Pokemon game will be a true RPG. At one time, there was discussion on actually having it cel shaded. This idea was dropped, obviously; I’m sure you’ve seen pics from the game by now. I can’t wait to see what happened to this game. It wil be very different from the GBA versions in the sense that it will have many RPG mechanics; I’m sure we’ll see some interesting mini games as well. Although I think it will be a good game, I’m sure it won’t be the best Pokemon game released this year (in Japan, at least).
I mentioned many details on Super Smash Brothers already. It will include online play as well as many different play modes. You will be able to change the graphical presention to a paper theme (Paper Mario) as well as a cel shaded theme (Wind Waker and Viewtiful Joe). The combat system will also be increased.

aries also said that after nintnedo update the nintendo minuite they will be posting an article on the revolution which was supposed to come out yesterday, where is that article? or was that said and made by the aries imporsinator.

Yes, it was the real Aries who said he would be back after the Nintendo minute, and that feature was updated yesterday like it should. Read the Nintendo minute here (http://cube.ign.com/articles/608/608635p1.html)
He came back for a while like he said after that feature was posted. He went to bed after that and hopefully he will be back posting more later today.
Yes, there was a lot of impersonators and shit some days ago, luckily it seems most of those impersonators have grown bored by now. :)
Obviously, the real Aries is still around answering peoples questions, I got a nice talent when it comes to see a persons personality from their typing and if you don't have any such ability that stuff is really chaotic.
But just stick to this thread, I'll keep posting those posts from the real Aries whenever there is even a slight piece of new info.

And I have edited one quote already because I realised that was from an imposter, even though I'm a girl, I'm still not quite a super-human. ;)
I just post what I find intresting and think is from the real Aries, so that other people won't need to wade through that chaos of 2000+ posts (all on one page too).
Oh wait, perhaps this one was by you tonic?
I’ve just been informed by a source, who’s name i cannot reveal, that Majesto will not be making a RPG for revolution after all. They have had sever problems with the dev-kit, which ofcourse is a fact I connot believe.
Here is one more feature which the revolution will take advantage of; RevolutionS connection (WiFi ofcourse) Much like the connection between GC:GBA used in FinalFantasy-CC, where the GBA works as a controller. DS game to Revolution game connection will not be present at anytime due to some quite old Nintendo agreements.
More to come in the next couple of days. Rest assured. When I read it now (not being in the middle of the night for me) I think that post sounds very imposterish out.
I guess DS to Revolution connectivity could be a no-no next generation anyway then.

HereticPB, I won't answer that, sorry, but everyone got a written personality and ID, I notice things like that instinctively while for others text is just plain text whoever that have written it.
I myself always type "lol", "lmao" and "rofl" rather than "haha" or "hihi". That's one type of written ID.
Written personality could be how a person express themself, whether the text is written in a more careful or more "agressive" way, I myself think my written personality is "bitchy", so obviously your written persoanlity could be different than your real personality (in real life I'm an angel, honestly!).
Anyway, here's an intresting piece from Aries:
Foster: I don’t understand why people are so fixated on the “Game Boy Evolution”. The DS is going to be around for a very long time. I’m sure Nintendo has talked about the next Game Boy, and I would be willing to bet that they have some ideas written down. But I also bet that it won’t be discussed at E3 unless a journalist brings it up.
The DS is going to have a very goof E3 showing. The promise of free online play for Metroid Hunters, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, and Mario Kart is enough to convince me to keep my DS.Pokemon is going to be Online! Yay!!

[The next Super Smash Bros.] will include some different characters. Some of the older characters will will not be in this one; Falco isn’t going to be in it. The only new characters I have heard about are Krystal (from Star Fox) and Pit (from Kid Icarus). The inclusion of Pit is very interesting to me. Would Nintendo actually bring back a series this old? We’ll see. I have no information on a new game in the series though.
You know, part of me wants to, and I think really does believe Aries is for real. But there's a nagging doubt at the back of my mind. Although I must say, everything he's said so far, if true, is going to blow me away when I actually see it.
In regards to this quote, I'm pissed that Krystal could be a new SSB character, as I don't like SFA. But I'm glad they've realized they can ditch some characters. Falco is not needed, and neither is Dr. Mario, and I'd LOVE to see Pichu and Jigglypuff go. Luigi definitely needs to stray more from Mario's move set and get his own. There are basically 3 Marios in SSB:M. That's two too many.

there is one thing i don't understand about the DS, and that is:
if the Ds is the 3rd nintnedo pillar, where exactly is it going to end up. Are there next-gen ds's, because as far as i'm concerned the ds is the new gameboy with innovative features. I think nintendo's claims that the DS is not a gameboy for mere marketing reasons, in order for people not to compare the mighty gameboy with the powerful psp.

I think Krystal would be a good addition. Sure she's in a crappy game, but that's not her fault. Falco is definately needed, because a lot of people (such as myself) prefer him over Fox. The guy who could very easily be the best player in the world uses Falco. A lot of people don't understand that "clones" are their own characters. When you get good enough, you can't just transfer your playing style over between them.
I really don't believe that they would remove characters. I'm not sure that's the real Aries.

i am a master at jigglypuff, and that is something which i hold with pride, not alot of players can use jigglypuff, atleast non from what i have seen, and i can defeat practically anyone with jigglypuff. I have also master the down B move, which makes it an added bonus for me.

Jigglypuff may be a good character, but I just can't stand her. Maybe I'm just being anal.
Falco and the rest of the clones are ok, but they need their own moves. They need to have at least slight variations, like Luigi and Mario. I'm a master with Link, and I can dominate anybody with him. But Young Link is the same damn character. He's not needed. Why have 2?
You want to know what I think they should do? Keep the clones, but give them all their own move sets. If they have some moves in common that's fine. But make them unique (don't tell me they already are, I've heard it before, that's not the way I mean it). They should keep Link as the mature version and change Young Link to WW Link or something. Give him a different arsenal. Fire Arrows is a start I suppose. But what about the grappling hook? Or the Deku Leaf? Just some ideas.
Kill Pichu, I don't ever want to see him again. I suppose Jigglypuff can stay, she is a unique character and contributes to the game. I just don't like her personally.
I have so many ideas that I think would make a new SSB game so much better than Melee, as I'm sure everyone here does. It gets me excited talking about this. But I digress; that's not a topic for this thread.

I think it's great that they'll add Krystal to SSB, it's always to few female characters to chose between in Nintendos games and Krystal is a perfect addition in that regard.
I do hope they keep Ganondorf though, I'm not good with Falcon, but own with Ganondorf!
Well, I used to be really good with Luigi too, but oh well.

If Falco is in it (Which he probably is) he probably has different moves than before so it doesn't really matter. You just have to find 'your' character again.

I was just messing around with Young Link....and for the first time I'm starting to see what you people mean about the clones. Link has been "my character" since the original, but Young Link is great because he's a lot faster, and that helps a lot. And when you think about it, Ken and Ryu were the same too, and that never bothered me.
I guess the thing is, I'm afraid they'll add so many clones and not too many original characters. We need new original fighters too. I want the next game to be massive. I want at least 50 fighters. They could do it easily, Nintendo has plenty of characters. And more levels too. A lot more.
When they finally release an online Smash Bros. title, we should organize a tournament. They go up to 64 fighters in SSBM right? Have like an official NNow Smash Bros. competition. I'm getting so pumped....yet it's still at least a year away :(

i myself don't try to restrict myself to one character, i like to have different characters which i have mastered, especially the tough ones which a lot of players don't seem to like to use, because their moves don't seem to be very powerful, when in matter of fact they are the most powerful moves in the game. My list of characters which i have mastered are:
mario, link, jigglypuff, falco and fox (the diffference is speed, the front A attack, and jump which allows different combo variations), ness, ganondorft, captain falcon, and the ice climbers.
but because my GC got stolen and the lack of competitors, if i were to use any of these characters today, i would most probably get my ass kicked.

*Runs to play SSBM*Just so you know, if you really could own anyone, you would not be seeing much progress with your ability if you use Link. His potential is mediocre.
Young Link is actually the least "cloney" clone besides Luigi. That doesn't stop him from being average, though.
Pichu is the only character who has no purpose. 99% of the experts proclaim Bowser as the worst character in the game, but at least he beats other characters in one tiny way. Pikachu > Pichu in every way except running speed. They still shouldn't remove him, they should just make him better. Give him more punch if he's going to hurt himself.
Cofey

I use Link as my main fighter, but I'm also good with DK, Mario, and Dr. Mario.
As for characters they need, a Koopa would be cool, but I really want the Koopa Kids: Ludwig, Roy, Morton, Wendy, Iggy, Larry, and Lemmy.
I'd like some more obscure characters too, like Mouser, Wart, or Poo.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. I don't think any character's potential is mediocre. And I don't know what experts you mean, but I don't buy all that.
The bottom line is this: it doesn't matter what character you use. Characters don't make good players. It's how you use the character. Any character can be better than any other character. It all depends on who is controlling him.

If they took out Falco then I woul be really pissed off. I Falco is my number one character, but the other day i tried out Fox and i think it was one of the only games that ive ever quit before finishing. (fox is shit) I especially hate his jump because its like he is experiencing some sort of fucked up gravity thats 1000 times worse than ours.

arg! Gannon is way too slow for my tastes, falcon is awsome cause hes strong and fast. i dont use him though.
They shouldnt take anything out, they should just add an assload of stuff. Melee was awsome, but the only problem with it was that board the platforms was missing. that was awsome. I hope they have 3 of those things. ("Boards the platforms", "break the targets", and another one (possilby "find the item"?))
